I'm kinda irritated by the fact that destroyed torso sections are'nt represented on the models. The arms do it so why not go all the way. This would actually make game play more effective by not wasting concentration on looking at target HUD.

Also Explosion FX seem less developed as well. I would like to see with ammo crits, damaged gauss, and cook offs with more of a boom. Possibly even having the whole torso removed in a firey ball if damage is sufficent.

We've bandied these around - I think the primary reason we don't have pieces everywhere is for performance (for now.)

Good ideas, though.

Yeah, I would love to see this too. It can really take advantage of the nvidia physics. Having weapons and chunks of armor flying off when a gauss round hits would be pretty cool.

I thought there used to be more damage textures, and that they were specifically removed a few patches ago - notes said something about needing tuning, tweaking, or maybe it was (as Garth indicated) a performance thing. Anyways, I believe that at least more indications of damage on the mech itself is planned.

I would love to see mech torsos actually reflect the damage done to them, outside of just a damage texture layer

I want to see when a side torso is gone, etc.

But, I'm sure that is pretty tough to do...

Completely gone is probably hard for a torso, yeah - but one that looks torn all to hell should be doable

Ya, just having a torso damaged/missing and destroyed legs actually looking destroyed would add a lot to visual fidelity. While it would take more work on the Art department, it wouldn't add any more to the performance pressures.

Im sure you have, even my 5 year-old pc is having a bit of performance issues. I just wanted to bring it up,because it was one of the thing I appreciate in MW4 was having that visual gratification. When engaging with another mech you were given visual clues of what kind of condition the mech was in. Mechwarrior and Battletech is a game of attrition. That's why tactics of torso twisting during your weapon cooldowns let your mech distribute the damage so you dont get cored. I woud just like to see it realized to a greater exent.

I always enjoyed Solairs matches or Trial of Positions where my mech is battered to a point of almost failure. This only amplifies the feeling of acomplishment.

5 years old in PC years is like 97 in human years. Maybe its time to put the old girl down.

i am certain i have seen all of these things in the game at some point. shots flying in random directions from ammo cook offs. torn and twisted torso sections. before i even pushed my LRM hunchback too far off the heat scale and when it came back down it rattled and rocked for several seconds as the LRM ammo slowly tore it to peices from the inside.

i knew the ammo explosions had been taken out but had not noticed that the torso damage effects were removed.

if it is a performance issue i completely understand, but then why not add it to the graphics options?
