Is there some reason why the Highlander class of mechs is one slot shy of being able to equip AC/20s or two UAC/5s?

Would it be possible to add an additional slot so this configuration can be achieved?

Wait for the release of the HGN-733C Highlander variant (confirmed in Ask the Devs 27) - it won't have a Lower Arm Actuator in the gun arm, so one can mount an AC/20 (which it already comes with) or (number of hardpoints permitting) dual UAC/5s there.

Because its the same reason why you can't put an AC 20 in any of the Cataphract variants arms... There is only 9 crit slots because there are 3 actuators in the arms. In the Cataphracts you can get either 2 AC5s at 8 crit slots or an AC5 and an UAC5 at 9 crit slots in one arm. Now if you take that lower arm actuator out... Like in the YLW Centurion, that gives you 10 crit slots of which an AC 20 can fit. But by not having that lower arm actuator, that arm can not move left or right and only move up and down.

So any AC20 arm will always only move up and down and only fire forward and act as a center torso hard point
