Today I received a new set of Logitech G930 headphones. My regular PC speakers don't suck, they are some mid-level Logitechs also. But I never turn the volume up high enough to really hear all the in-game detail.

Did you know your mech makes a sound when it loads a new salvo into the missile launchers? I didn't, until I started using the headphones. There are tons of great sounds that obviously a lot of effort went into.

So my point here is ... maybe the dynamic range of these sound effects is too great for many people to hear them. I'd like my headphones to be a little less cranked up, but all this detail really makes the game more fun.

PGI: Do something about the dynamic range of SFX. All these little sounds are fantastic but no one can freaking hear them.

It's all in the details.

Gotta game with headphones, if not for the simple fact that it keeps people on voip from hearing themselves in echo all the time if you're using speakers.

But yeah seriously, this game has wonderful audio aesthetics.

My AD900X sounds far better than any of the old 5.1 headsets I had before. And I thought my SR850s sounded nice. Still, with these things I hear stuff I can't hear with my Roccat Kaves or Trittons.

A few years ago when I traded in my l33t gamer cans for a proper set of high-quality headphones, I've noticed little nuances in my music, games, and even series and their soundtracks that I've never even heard before, and have really come to appreciate.

I don't really need to crank mine, though, but for the price I paid, I'd expect that o.O

Loved my SR850s, so much bang for buck! Nice soundstage as well for the price point.

Those are kind of nice, but also kind of suck because they weigh like 5 pounds.

speakers are on the way out (at least for me). I can't use speakers on my computer anymore, I use a headset only.

The speakers are now hooked up to the t.v.

Just like joysticks, I can't go back to them anymore.

I have a pair of G930's myself and I love em. There about a year old now, but there is just one limitation to them. There USB based sound, meaning you can't get all that high fidelity you would get out of a PCI or PCI-E card. However they do very well for 7.1, not much of a difference between 7.1 and 5.1 in terms of headphones. My next pair might be going back to a Turtle Beach 5.1 set, I did like those and they were good till the speakers inside blew out..... that and I loved my SB XFI card I have.
