OK, here is my character's backstory tell me what you think, point out any lore errors, etc, etc.

...

Subject Vilhelm Oonishi, born 3014 on the planet Lothan in the Draconis Combine, was enrolled in military service at an early age. He excelled at aptitude tests and was assigned to specialize in light class battlemechs, learning to pilot a battlemech using a Commando CMD-2A. Eventually he would switch to the more advanced Raven RVN-4X shortly after they were introduced into the Combine.

Vilhelm graduated Sun Zhang MechWarrior Academy at the top of his class in 3029, and started his carrier in the DCMS as Sergeant at the age of 15. He served 5 years in the 17th Rasalhague Regulars, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant, until the unit was disbanded in 3034 when Rasalhague was granted it's independence.

Instead of joining the FRR with the rest of his unit, Vilhelm decided to continue to serve the Combine, and applied to transfer to the 2nd Sword of Light. He was quickly accepted into the illustrious unit, and served as a scout in the 3rd Battalion. By the year 3050, at the age of 35, he had risen to the rank of lieutenant and was leading an entire recon lance in the prestigious 1st battalion.

During the clan invasion the 2nd Sword of Light saw action all across the invasion corridor. In the defense of Alshain, when the planet was lost to Clan Ghost Bear, Lieutenant Oonishi engineered a diversionary attack designed to use his mech's speed to lead the enemy away from the rest of the battalion and give his comrades time to withdraw in good order.

Despite his mission's success, during the battle he became separated from the rest of his unit and was unable to reach the extraction point in time. Cut off and alone, with no way to rejoin with the main forces, he conducted a series of gurilla raids over the course of 3 months against Clan Ghost Bear. By luring their forces into a drawn out engagement and thinning their numbers across the planet, he is able to eventually commender a dropship first, and then in a desperate zero-g battlemech maneuver, hijack a clan jumpship.

Vilhelm then made the decision to return to his homeworld and family on Lothan, who has not been heard from since the clan invasion began, 18 months before. During the transit there was plenty of time between each of the 5 hyperspace jumps to research the Ghost Bear memory core aboard the spacecraft and learn the history and lore of the invading clans. Using the technology and information in the jumpship, he developed a strategy, and when he arrives in the Lothan system his daring plan is put into action. Oonishi declares a batchall, a trial of possession, and as the prize, the planet Lothan. This battle marks the first time he drops in a custom Uller, the mech he would pilot for the rest of his carrier as a mechwarrior.

His plan might have been a success, perhaps, if he had more time to familiarize himself with the hardware. The performance envelope of the strange and powerful clan mech far exceeded his expectations, and altho he was able to almost single handed demolish the entire wolf garrison's bid, his plan ultimately failed when he was defeated in single combat against a mad cat piloted by the single highest ranking clan wolf officer on the planet. It is then that he, along with his surviving followers and the clan ghost bear technicians aboard the jumpship are taken bondsman by Clan Wolf. However his captors were so impressed by his skill they freed him to the warrior cast after only six months of hard labor in a worker cast run production facility.

Oonishi continued to serve in Clan Wolf, rising through the ranks of the warrior caste, until the Refusal War of 3057. At that point he returned to the inner sphere with the Warden wolves-in-exile, and settled on Arc-Royal. It was at this time he met his wife, and for all intents retired from active duty and took up an administrative role within the unit. Throughout much of the '60s he spent his time away from the cockpit of a battlemech, and instead focused on building a home for himself, his family, and his fellow clanmates.

His long and distinguished carrier as a mechwarrior was ended in year 3070 when he was killed in action in a deep space battlemech engagement in orbit around Arc-Royal against Jihadist forces on 28th of December 3070. He was the age of 56.
