Tinfoil hat time... you've been warned.

They have started to give quite a bit of detail on many of big upcoming features (specifically CW). When it comes to UI 2.o they've been a bit more vauge. There have been several questions in the Dev QA's where they just say "We hope to address that with UI 2.0". Beyond that, they've only really described it as an effort to "Bread crumb" new players.

Does this mean 3rd person view?

Now if 3rd PV is implimented as a beginer mode that restricts the player in several ways (ultimatly making it not as effective as 1st person) than I'm fairly okay with that. However, the community tends to get in a bit of an uproar enough how it is with PGI in regards to communication. If this really is 3rd PV... just tell us now, because dropping it on us will melt the forums (and i'm assuming a chunck of the game with it.)

No. No it doesn't.

UI 2.0 is a new layout and workflow for the out-of-match part of the game.

UI 2.0 to 3PV? I'm not seeing the connection.

Who can tell?.. We only know that it's coming. And in the case of CW, it's barely breathing hard.

With 3PV was kind of a bombshell dropped on us 2 weeks ago. You have to look at the cycle of firestorm - implementation. When was consumables first mentioned as a done deal and work from there.

That's what I always understood it to be. However, they have started in with the "Bread Crumb new players" thing. It's clearly been the official line as it's been said in a couple different interviews.

Like I said, this is total tinfoil hat stuff.

It's been floated around before that 3rd person view is a method of attracting a new player base/type, and is generally seen as an easier way to play a game. Thus, bring in new players and give them and easier time initially. Ideally it would be done in a way that they eventually move to 1st person view... thus the "bread crumbing".

I think that what they mean by "bread crumbing" is that they want to make the UI more intuitive. They want related screens and information to flow into eachother more naturally so that they don't have to literally instruct people on where things are or how to use them.

I don't think that the 3rd person view is ever supposed to lead to players moving from that into 1st person view as a form of progression. The different views are just different ways to play the game.

so ok they are touting 3 modes of play coming.

basic play = 3rd optional
faction = 1st person only
merc corp = 1st person only

that seems fine with me.

If it's not to revamp the current UI, then I'm a little bummed because the bugs have just gotten more frequent with each patch, and it feels like they've done nothing to track the issues.
