Suggestion:

Make it easier for players to share a mech / pattern / camouflage / colours / decals so they can create a unified unit appearance, or just for fun.
  • Have the option for player A to save metadata for a mech chassis / loadout / pattern / camouflage / colours / decals in a file, via the loadout and MC shop screens. This file containing metadata only, can then be securely downloaded and shared throughout the MWO / player guild community.
  • The ability for player B to upload this data into the shop service which can recognise this metadata to automatically select the options included in the save file.
  • The ability to further edit, tag and untag options in the shop service, with visual changes shown on a mech model.
  • Player B buys mech player A created (or edited version thereof) for C-Bills or MC.
In short, the community is already sharing mech loadouts via third party programs because it is fun! But this does not include the paint / pattern or (unreleased) decal appearances of a mech. The MWO developers could take this in-house and have it be securely (metadata only) configurable / sharable / transferrable, purchasable to include all player desirable options for change.

Thought: If player avatars costumes were ever to become an option (configurable by limb), metadata could also be saved / shared for these also(?)

TL;DR version

Mech loadout metadata + mech appearance metadata which can be recognised by the MWO UI to allow guild mech configurations to be shared, bought and configured.

It would be easier for the MWO community to create and share fully customised mech appearances for fun, to represent units, mercenaries, according to the lore.

This would make it easier for the developers, in the long run, to support community appearance contests. Those taking part could submit a metadata file rather than a screenshot.
