So I'm getting into the "acceptance" state of grieving over the 3PV fiasco, but I have only one suggestion/plea that I'd like to make, especially in light of how they implemented the new control options;

Please make "1PV Only" the default setting for the matchmaker.

if you don't I dont see how you can argue that the game is focused on first-person.

Sure, I'll vote yes. It doesn't matter which one is default though, people who hate it will switch it.

If I were PGI, I would set THIRD to default and laugh hysterically when it converted a lot of forum trolls to the mode.

Yeah, and I'm expecting them to merge them into "Mixed mode forever" about 1 month after 3pv launch too when they realize that 1PV has become a 10 people never getting into a game - but hey, thats still one more month they can at least claim to be "100% first person™".

I don't care what opinions people have/had anymore. This game is not going to be anything like I expected, and probably nothing like what MOST PEOPLE were expecting. PGI was too vague, maybe intentionally, in the beginning, and also made a lot of verbal commitments they have been forced to reevaluate. In the end, it was really our fault for believing anything a free game developer said in the wee early concept/beta stages.

You're probably right about that, though that doesn't change the fact that they said a lot of stuff - and then decided to not deliver.

The issue is that PGI wanted this game to be "You are the mechwarrior" not "you are the robot". And the only way they knew how to accomplish that is setting the game in first person. Plus you just don't get the same feeling in 3rd as you do in 1st. The problem with third person is camera angles. Players tend to use it for a dirty tactic as looking around corners without being seen. They want to add UAVs to spot targets, which I think its a neat idea but should be able to lock on to the UAV and shoot it down if seen. I've seen too many posts about this, and I felt like commenting on this one because I'm tired of these darn posts about 3rd person view.

I just think that adding the 3rd person view may give a huge disadvantage to the players who don't play with it. Like in MW4 players would creep up on a hill then use the camera view to look for players as targets with out showing themselves and launching LRMs or shooting gauss rifles without having to expose themselves or to be seen by the enemy. Which I though was kind of BS, because I played FPS view all the time. Now if PGI could fix issues like that, maybe zooming the camera up while player mechs are behind cover to stop the third person players from using the camera to their advantage then I'm fine with it.

In my opinion I think the third person camera is just something to complain about because players that suck at the game need those advantages.

In conclusion the game is fine the way it is, you don't need to add 3rd person camera to it. It's really not necessary anyways. Only thing I really miss about MW4 is the independent left arm and right arm movement. So you can engage fast moving targets easier. Instead of what they have now, both arms move. But hey maybe that was a good addition to the game, not for sure on that yet, still figuring if I like it or not. Anyways that all I have to say about 3rd person cameras and stuff.

Problem is that when they go back on such a strongly worded "almost promise" you cant trust them about anything any longer. They also havent specifically said that they will not turn this into "My little pony robot" game either..

3rd person view has no place in this game - ever.

Where is the option: I will stop playing after 3PV introduction so I don't care?

"That was our view at the time." - The PGI Mantra.

Because they apparently don't care one whit about their credibility, or rapidly-growing lack thereof.

non-sequitur, but thank you for playing.
Shouldn't you be making another 10 threads about how MW:O is P2W?
