seriously, 4 light mechs on one team and none on the other is a ballance issue... same with other classes, depending on the maps...

everything was fine before the switch to ELO mm...

not talking about 8vs8, i think finding the best fitting setup for your groups playstyle is part of the challenge... but in random matches there needs to be weightclass balance...

please, bring it back :D

There is nothing that highlights how broken the MM is like Alpine on Conquest and one team has no lights and the other has one or more. After the typical battle at Epsilon, the team with the lights has a cap lead and wins on points. Tourmaline is pretty much the same.

They mentioned they're tweaking it to take weight more into account.

It works the other way too. Dropped into an assault game with 4 assaults on one side and 1 on the other. :/

i know... but "taking weight into account" is not matching 3 Assaults vs. 3 assaults...

Weight tonnage goal could be set to 480 tons (for an 8v8)

There are 17 weight classes (20-100), with 60 ton mechs being the exact middle of the scale. 60 "average" times 8 players equals 480tons.

(without further restrictions, you could make a team of 4 Atlas and 4 Fleas... lolz)

while i appreciate your math´ skills nataniel, this topic is about weightclass ballance (L vs L, M vs M etc. )in random matches, not weightlimits in 8vs8 drops..thats another story :D

Lol I meant the "goal" for the matchmaker when assigning PUG teams, but I see what you mean.

Would it be a bad idea to just institute 1/4 the "slots" in a team to each weight class. That way every game has 2/2/2/2 (or for a 12 player match 3/3/3/3)?

Would that just increase the wait time for a game... or could it potentially help balance weight so you don't have such lopsided matchups (or just "top heavy" games in general... wouldn't want to drop into a game with 16 Stalkers all fighting eachother, either)

its pretty grim at the moment. just dropped on tortureme desert with 5 medium short range brawlers and 3 heavys against 5 sniping assault pop tarts supported with 3 sniping heavies. its happening alot and whilst i'm sometimes on the other side of the coin its no fun or challenge stomping imbalanced opposition

Weight matching is better then class matching. What's needed is a few target weight classes to drop in, just as Natanel states.

Being syncdropping with 5 others, we all have assaults running, and the Enemy only had 1 Awesome.

I realy wish the Weight / Class woud count again.
