I'd been noticing that the textures were a little blurry but after cranking up all the settings I just shrugged and went with...that was until earlier today when I realized that I didn't have the Catalyst Control Center installed for my ATI drivers. I guess I'd just been working with the default drivers before then. Thinking that this was the solution to my problem I installed it and then tweaked some of the settings and took a few drops...and then I started to notice a few issues.

First was that the UI was a little fuzzy. Whereas before the horizon line had been a crisp line, it was now aliased thick in the center, but fading off towards either end and top and bottom. Also, all the text was just every so faintly blurring as well as slightly flickering. I just did a couple of runs and in several cases when I was in combat my FPS dropped from a usual constant 30 to 11 (which is somewhat difficult to play on, ie I was even worse than normal).

I opened up the CCC and set everything back to default...things were a little better, but when there was combat, things would drop down to 11 fps again. I went back in, overrode the applications settings and turned everything to minimum settings and now my FPS is back, but things are still blurry.

Has anyone encountered anything like this? If so, find any solutions? If not my next step is to uninstall the CCC and then the drivers to see if that gets things running back the way they were.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Relevant info: i7 920, AMD 6850, Win7 x64. No system config changes other than installing Catalyst Control Center.

I had a similar issue playing a different game. I think there is a problem with CCC profiles not resetting, so you're getting a high level of anti-aliasing even if you don't currently have a profile. The blurry text might be caused by Morphological Filtering.

The only solution I found was to first uninstall the drivers, then clean up with Driver Fusion to make sure it was all gone, and finally to install them again.

I can think of 2 things you can try.

1. Install http://www2.ati.com/..._12.11_CAP2.exe

2.Delete the CCC profile for MWO, so that it is using default settings (assuming you haven't tweaked the default settings)

I came across this issue earlier, to my knowledge it has to do with certain settings that are applied when you create a custom profile that overlap/overwrite any settings you make in-game. When creating a custom ccc profile, even though you set everything to "Use application settings" there are certain filters that are applied anyways.

Find any antialiasing settings and set them to "off".

Also, the current AMD beta driver (13.3) has CryEngine 3 specific fixes....they may or not work here, but I've been running all the 13.x betas with success.

see my fix about overriding the game and using direct 11 instead of the ancient 9 it wants you to use.
