So, let alone the myriad list of bugs we are all currently contending with, one that has been with us for many months is still here and I am baffled by it. What is the point in having rear armor if getting hit in the rear with any weapon seems to have the damage "leak" through to the front?

Example: My CT is red cored. I have full back armor. Obviously my back armor isn't half of what my front armor is, but having damage spread through to the front when being struck in the rear and then killing me through destroying my Front CT is a very big problem that, to my knowledge, hasn't even been mentioned.

Very depressing indeed.

Yeah, I've had this too and it's pretty annoying that a mech can shoot me in the front and make my rear armor go yellow with something like a laser.

Yeah I believe the most glaring example I noticed was when I should have taken damage to the FRONT (because I saw the PPC shots incoming) and my REAR took damage.

S!

Seen this as well. Got shot in back with some damage done but most of it was to the front armor. And not restricted one single Mech. Really annoying when you need just those couple of seconds to get to cover but get cored because the damage in your rear CT goes straight to already red frontal CT and you die. Great stuff.

ive noticed (while messing around for far too long in the training grounds) that where you hit the mech from behind has a huge effect on where the damage goes. if you land your lasers on the back of the mech, the back gets damaged. if you shoot the arm stump of a missing arm from behind the mech, the damage transfers to the front armor/ internal structure. also if the head is visible from behind, hitting that tends to damage the front center torso rather than the back. also hitting the flanks of the mech always damages the front armor, even if you are more behind than in front. again with the damage transfer, this can go right to your center torso if you dont have any flanks left.
in my cat, i have to make sure i am facing completely away from someone to absorb a shot with my rear armor, or my side will get blown out.

edit: the cat does have a flat backside, more humanoid torsos are more likely to get rounded to the front because their torsos are a little more... rounded 6.o

Every example given by you guys I have also experienced. Disengaging from a fight because my front CT is cored and having the enemy fire just about any kind of weapon into my rear armor, just to have the damage transferred to my already decimated CT is probably the biggest consecutive turn-off I've experienced in this game.

Yea, we have to deal with quite a lot of bugs right now, but this one has been in the game since as far back as September. Not a good thing at all. It boggles my mind that hit detection and damage is so very poorly executed in a game who's very core is centered around doing damage.
