A single player Mechwarrior game with a modern engine with multiplayer, for £40 or even £50 please! Don't worry about community warfare, just enable player run servers with a very flexible set of settings and a standard settings text file format (tags). We can sort CW by ourselves thank you very much!

Interested to hear how many others would have preferred a more 'standard' product, so please let me know!.

Since MW3, I've played a LOT more multiplayer than single player in the MW games. So I simply can't agree on that aspect of it. The cost is really high for getting new stuff however.

$100.00 gets you less than most expansions for previous MW games...

How many others? The thread title says we all wanted that. Not that I knew I wanted that, the mercs games were the only single player ones I liked and they had nothing for plot.

Nope,I wanted a robust community based around faction warfare that makes MPBT:3025 look like it was built for the Commodore 64. Kinda like what was advertised. So at this point, neither of us are happy :P

The title is of course to get people in the door; it may not reflect the actual belief of the author or the product you find inside. It is a bit like saying one's game is free to play but when you play it, well. Quite clearly, when you read my post, I am more asking what others think rather than asserting that all thought that.

Machine guns still need to be buffed in this alternate universe

Yes, that is what I wanted. Is that what we're getting? Nope, not for a long time (potentially never). Instead we get this abortion of a mechwarrior game. But community warfare will totally fix everything wrong with the game, it's fine.

You already know the story on why we are getting a multi-player F2P game, right?

In any case, the idea of a PVP-only game in the BT universe was just too good to resist.

I know you have a /s there JohnoBurr. However, I still feel the need to inform people that CW will exacerbate many, many issues.

EDIT: because exasperate aint a word lol. Posting too hard and fast today! Thanks for the spot JohnoBurr

Considering that we've had like 7 different "standard" MechWarriors, I actually welcome MWO's particular spin on it. That said, the reality is that a "standard" MechWarrior title would've required a much larger budget than PGI had to work with - so this is the best they could offer.

@Megalosauroid

Actually, it wasn't. Its what a die hard core of Battletech fans wanted. If it was what the community wanted MPBT3025 would have survived. Unfortunately, most of the community was weaned on MW3 & MW4, and so the Timberwolf, the Uziel, the Bushwacker are what the majority of MechWarrior players seek to want. There is a reason they never found a publisher to get MW5 off the ground. And it'll probably be the lack of Clan Tech that kils MWTactics, too.

Yes, because 5 million totally isn't enough. Oh wait, they have a publisher. You're right, they probably effectively got about 2 million or less of that. Gotta pay the suits, ya know? But it doesn't matter how much money PGI got, they're still incompetent and no amount of money will change that.

The forums are infinitely more entertaining than the actual game.

should have made this a poll. Because I know for sure... I dont want a single player MW game with some multi-player afterthought thrown in just for the multi-player fans.

I want a deep interactive system that the masses can all enjoy and fight or aid each other. I want a persistent universe that is always changing and a universe that we the players have a hand in shaping. I dont want just a jump in jump out shooter either. I want all battles and events to be dynamic and to have meaning. Everything we do should have some impact on the universe as a whole. Who we battle, who we lose to or win against, who we trade tech or info with. I want alliances and bitter rivals. I want deep impacting story driven events that happen and we the player community as a whole or factions have to handle the situation(s) together or in or own ways.

You cant do any of this in a pure single player game or a lame multi-player shooter. This is what I dont want.
