Are there any promo codes or free giveaways going on for MWO? I only used the redeem button for my PC gamer camo, and a free premium.

Is there a popular thread regarding this subject?

Thanks

They need more of these, wouldn't mind if some companies decided to do some kind of adverting/promotion just like nvidia did with their dawn character. Would love if we could get some more mascot bobble heads or more unique skins like the pc gamer one (only for more mechs)

I'm sure the magazine giveaways and "like this facebook page" would be good for everyone involved. They could attract new people to mwo and they could interest us in their magazine/company.

I think they ditched the whole promo code stuff the moment they realized how much money they can make with small things like color and camo patterns. ;)

Think about how much money the PC gamer codes have cost them. I can't believe they are still honoring them.

It's amazing to see how many promo-codes Hawken has had and are still active compared to the what, two that MWO has had? Nvidia Dawn and PC Gamer are the only two I know of.

Note: I'm not in the slightest saying that Hawken is awesome or better than MWO, just stating that I find it hilarious that two games that are near identical in terms of f2p model have completely different takes on promo codes and special promo in game unlockables.

Do you really think those of use that use the PC gamer pattern and colors would have bought them for MC?
Edit: The pattern also isn't available for any mech released since the Cicada.

I would have definitely bought black and white for MC. I have bought maybe 6 colors for MC. Certainly not everybody or even a majority using the PC gamer colors would have bought them but for people that are buying colors for MC, black and white are must haves. I admit the MC black and white are better though.

Anybody who actually bought the magazine and plays MWO already got their colors. Its very generous of PGI to keep letting people who find the answers on the web have ~$15 of free colors.

I think they'll make a comeback. They tested 3 models of using promo codes. Print media (PC Gamer skin and Coconut monkey), Social media (Nvidia Dawn) and self promotion (1 day premium time off their own website).

These all worked and people ate them up. I'm sure you'll see it again around launch. Look how popular the pre-order content is in games. Almost every TV ad I see for a game has a different promo depending on where you get it from, what it's cross-branded with, etc.

The only reason you could consider a giveaway of a bobblehead and 3 colors is very generous is because they usually charge too much for these things. Giveaways like these are common in F2P games to make people interested to at least test out a game since they are getting free stuff when doing it. Some just hand out a smaller sum of credit similar to MC to let players buy whatever they feel like instead.

A wise solution for promo codes costing them future MC is to make promo codes for temporary access to MC vanity items, paints, camo schemes, and even hero mechs.

Give players a taste of those things for a few days and at least some will likely purchase MC to get their toys back after their promo access expires.

Promo codes shouldn't be a "test drive" so to speak. The current system they have now is great. Completely vanity items (dolls, paints, etc.) are great things to give away. Only having a few of them makes them unique. If they spat out free stuff every week, people wouldn't pay attention to the promos.

1 day (or more :P ) free premium time codes will should be available for special occasions. Major holidays, milestones in game development etc.

It really doesn't cost the devs anything but it's a huge PR win with the community.
