If you're considering a 4th beyond that, get the 2X... everything the 1X can do, the 3D can do w/ jump jets so don't get that one.
My personal 2X build (It's awesome)

But the 4X can rot for it's stupid hardpoints and it's stupid stupid stupid engine cap. YAY a heavy that moves at assault speeds.

3D is good for the sniping meta right now.

wow! the 2X is probablly the easiest of the bunch to build for...I actually wish I owned more than just one they're that veratile.
275 std.
Endo
3xML
AC/20
2xSRM6
Pretty simple build to gt ya going...by far the easiest 'phract to run. There's tons of more 'advanced' builds you can run with it, but dang, it would be my 1st recommendation. All the other chassis are specialist builds...
Ilya/4x = Dakka
3D = Poptart
1X = LL boat
The 2X fills your AC/20 spot...with excellent options in experimentation.

The first three are in my hangar, the 2X was sold and the 4X has never been in there (too slow, anything you can do with it the Ilya can do it better).
Unfortunately with the current Meta I'd gladly trade away the Ilya to the pinklander, the 3D is actually the most effective since poptarting is rather rewarding; the Ilya to snipe has to expose its whole figure, resulting in side coring or huge damage intake from ppcs and other sniper or mid range builds such as multiple LLAS.

CTF-1X
its cheap, its quick, its extremely durable, it can engage at range, is devastating at brawling ranges, has enough ammo to shoot for the entire match, and the heat profile is forgiving.
you can interchange the gauss with an ac 20. take out the case, relocate the ammo, add an additional heatsink an there you go.

I have a standard engine in it. Putting an xl in a phract sounds like a bad idea. I guess I could try it at some point.
Most of the time you need XLs in Cataphracts, 300 and 280 are the most used and many builds would never been doable without these.. and still it's safer to place such a kind of engine in a Phract rather than into a Jager.
