Ha! Reeled you in, now for the story. My four-year-old daughter recently caught me playing MWO and has become obsessed with playing "the robot game." So, sometimes, I let her sit on my lap and fire a single weapons group that I don't use a lot (hit the number 3 when I tell you). So she caught me playing the other day and I decided to take my jenner jr7d out for a spin. I'm running two srm4 and four slas. I put two of the slas in a group for her to use. So we launch and end up on alpine and I go trotting off in search of a target. First, I run into an allied raven fighting an enemy raven and cicada. He got the cicada and we took out the raven. Not bad for having a four-year-old copilot. At this point, we are beside the enemy base and I see some LRMS arcing out, so I head that direction to find a single enemy atlas standing in their base flag. He sees me coming, so I have to jig around to get there without being plastered by long and medium range fire. So I close in and let her start shooting, expecting to die. Nope. For near eight minutes, I dodged and circled while she spammed the fire button with no cohesive aiming or fire concentration. We would have soloed the poor soul if my team hadn't eliminated everyone else and eventually arrived to send an lrm volley in for the kill. We took him apart piece by piece, damaging everything with little tiny pinpricks (my daughter laughed hysterically when we "shot his bottom") When he went down, we were the game leader with 983 points from spreading so much damage around his entire chasis. It was a thing of beauty. Some poor dude was probably screaming his head off while this little jenner spastically nibbled away at him. It was the best...game...ever!

So, the tactic for high-point games is to abduct a small child and let them play in your stead...got it.

It seems like there's a couple of pilots who've beaten you to that one already!!

(Playing like small children, for those of you who missed the joke.)

:-P

I'm telling you, the four-year-old thing is golden! 'specially when you shoot em in the butt.

I know about the same thing with my Commando, you can pump lots of missile damage into an Assault and they'll keep going but they can't hit you. The Stalker is the 'best' target for this though I usually avoid it, since I normally have better things to do then spend half the match chipping down a Stalkers armor while he can't turn fast enough to even get me on his screen.

I've been letting my 4 year old son run Cicadas for a long time I still have to out fit them but he uses my HOTAS to play.

Wins / Losses 74 / 81
Kill / Death Ratio
0.65

Not terrible for a 4 year old.

she would sometimes shoot the atlas from behind and have giggle fits about shooting him in the butt.

Ha, awesome. My 4 year old daughter likes the game too. The first time we were playing, I was explaining the whole giant robot thing, and that we were looking for the badguys in our hunchback. We crested the crater ridge in caustic and stopped right in front of her first enemy Atlas.

My daughter goes "oooh, you're gonna get squished daddy". And we did. Both arms flew off and we exploded. She thought it was hilarious, and advised me that we would do better if i didn't explode.

Sage advice.

Haha I used to do that with my little sister and a neighbor way back when in MW2. We'd split steering/twisting, shooting, and everything else between our 9/8/6-year old selves.

So apart from telling a very cute story (on which I commend you, I smiled the whole way through), you've discovered that the match ranking is almost 100% damage done.

To a light pilot like me, this isn't really news, but it's good to see that someone else realizes that it's not always the ones at the top of the match ranking that has done most of the work; e.g. when I run around like a madman capping five bases to win the match while my team-mates stalemate with the enemy in the middle.

So don't automatically heckle that light second from the bottom with 19 damage; it might just be him that won you the match.

My 4 year old son LOVES watching me play MWO. He regularly watches a kid version of transformers called Rescue Bots, and whenever he sees an atlas or centurion go down he yells "OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO! RESCUE BOTS!"

My take away from this story:

4-year-olds are obviously OP. Nerf children.

But this small child was not typing vitriol and abusive obscenities into the Chat window like so many other "grown children players". She just enjoyed the game for what it is... a Game.

Perhaps more adults could learn a valuable lesson from the real children. LOL

My 4 year old daughter is a head hunting machine! We were sniping in my K2 last night, and I told her to fire when the crosshairs were on the target. I wasn't going for headshots (>600m) but she hits the keyboard, and BAM! cockpit destroyed. She giggles and squeals "Got him Daddy, find me another target!" I line up another mech, and sure enough, another cockpit! "Daddy, I squished him good!, AGAIN!" finally one more time, we line up the Atlas, and sure enough she headshots the third mech in a row.

If I hadn't been on TS and had my team mates howling about listening to my daughter talking smack, I would have been called out for using an aimbot. Of course after the third headshot, I had the other teams undivided attention, so we got blasted. What does my team hear..." Daddy, you should have hid behind the rock.. next time I'm driving." I was laughing so hard, we both fell out of my chair.

Awesome stories guys. I play with a friend who has a 2 year old, and we can hear him in the background often talking about the "pew pew robots". It's sweet.

Great stories guys! Though it does make me wonder how many 4 year olds' mechs I've destroyed up til now...
