This just an idea - just seeing what you all think.
What if PGI could rent or sell you a lobby where it could be password protected and maybe name it and put your banner there. I know cost is an issue for everyone but I was just thinking how cool that would be for a unit to have their own lobbies where they could invite units, make it their own and stuff.
Too costly? Not needed? Other things to work on first? Maybe later?

that's actually what they ended up saying they intended that premium subscription for, private lobbies. "If we decided to launch Private Matches, they will likely require a Premium Account to cover costs of hosting a match on our hardware." http://mwomercs.com/...clarity-p2pf2p/ I was going to suggest premium servers like bf3, it could be pay for fps instead of p2w \o/

Well I was thinking more along the lines of the way TS3 works or something of the sort. Where we could lease or rent the space. They would never give it away free - cost money to run a business - they have investors and like any job have overhead.
I am just trying to gauge what the interest level would be. I am fully ready to invest money into PGI if they will change their approach a little. I remember back in the day when the first battletech online came out. They had lobbies and that was dial up.
It wouldn't be for everyone I understand but some of the larger teams could afford it would make tour emits easier.

I agree, I suspect this is the plan to only require the player hosting the game to have a premium subscription but any player can join.

You can create free "lobbies" in other f2p team games, hon for example. It's not about being too costly, pgi is just greedy.

Not needed. I can see the value of a private server on a game that has respawn, and by design is a drop in - drop out kind of deal. Dedicated private servers are also ok in my book if the game supports hosting servers in the first place.
MWO doesn't offer private server hosting, has 1 life / round. There is really no use for a dedicated private server.
I call complete BS on this excuse, as i did on the official thread. The cost of hosting a match on PGI's hardware is exactly the same whether the match consists of 16 random people on a random map, or 16 people who agreed to play each other on a selected map.
If they want to monetize private games (which i don't support), they should at least say that they want to rip off some money for the ability to choose who you want to play and on what map.
