Only problem with that is that it's wrong.

The MG has a continuous-fire mechanic, meaning it has to be held on-target 100% of the time. A laser, which is a beam-duration weapon, only needs to be held on target roughly 25% of the time. The rest of the time the laser-mounting 'mech is free to maneuver or torso-twist to spread damage without losing DPS. The MG-mounting 'mech cannot do any of that or it loses DPS.

That difference alone means the MG will NEVER be anything like a laser; it won't ever be able to attain its full theoretical DPS. I'm having a hard time getting over 0.2 DPS from my MGs due to the low range, the spread, the difficulty in hitting a moving target from a moving platform, and the need to always face the target.

I mean seriously, don't the balance guys at PGI consider these things? Apparently they don't, if Garth's answer is anything to go by. "Working as intended" - well, you intend it to not be used then, and you intend for three of your 'mech variants to be forever useless. One wonders why you wasted money designing them in the first place if you're just going to force them to be non-viable.

Not very good balance decisions if I may say so.

Sounds more to me that PGI never used the MG's or seen what the spider has in hardpoints.

the DEVS have always said that the clans would come after the launch of the game so this should not be a surprise what so ever. It just seems like a longer wait because the launch isn't till late September. I don't see clans coming until maybe November.

Can you tell me step by step and check it works yourself ? Cos it dose not !

Granted it was probably overnerfed. They are searching for something besides a flat damage buff.


Oddly enough they never dropped the DPS of the small laser to 0.4 dps out of fear of boating - yet does it to MG's. And keep in mid that a SL mech can use DHS heatsinks and replace MG ammo with more heatsinks.

Sorry. They were my first questions. I tend to flood the player help forums helping new players, not spamming how they should do things (as many do that don't get answered -- not aimed at you).

Though given that Airstrikes was released before he answered, I suppose the one on how to deliver may as well have been dropped and not answered as it was figured out before then. (Still. I do totally want to shoot down aerotech fighters so let's hope airstrikes or some variation become powerful or useful enough to have an animated aircraft that we can try to shoot down before it reaches us. Maybe harassment aerotech fighters to give people another reason to bring MGs along).

Reading it, I actually like your question. They do omit or fail to answers questions (I've read up on several ATDs) that they aren't ready to answer, and then answer it when asked by someone else closer to when the feature may come up. They haven't been willing to pump out much info on community warfare.

I'll give you my answer as a condolence. My guess is that a loyalty point bonus may become a feature of "Champion" Mechs, since that XP thing probably isn't gonna sell too well. I mean I'm a sucker that's bought every hero mech so far. But I still probably won't be getting champion versions of mechs I already have.

Oh I know. I'm being a bit sarcastic given how confused I am by the reply. Small lasers are already deadly against an Atlas if it's standing still and letting its back get hit - any decent weapon is. That doesn't make them overpowered. After all, the 6 small laser Jenner already exists yet it is hardly game-breaking.

Heck, if I was using the Spider-5K with 4 MGs, I'd ignore the other guy using the Spider-5K with 4 MGs. That's how useless they are.

They are simply "no threat whatsoever", even with the crit buff.

Pelting this Atlas with MGs prevented it from knowing what I was concentrating my fire on. While my flamers blinded him. I ripped him apart and barely got a focused scratch, just random spatterings of damage spread around my front.

Oh yes. MGs are worthless. Poor guy was so confused with all of his body parts lighting up with up and down, side to side spatterings of MG fire he started to wonder if there were other threats around him aside from me in the Jager, and my camera Commando piloted by the great snapshotter Lordred.

And let's not forget that required 10 (internal, so they don't take any space or weight!) DHS can make several small lasers heat neutral. Nerf small lasers! And DHS!

Paint it back by... Clicking on the color below the paint you added. The dark yellow square. That restores "Default" paint.

Click Profile, then forums profile... Then in the UPER right corner of you profile page there is an edit tab. You can then edit your personal info and pass word info from there. I have done it twice now. It works.

(Edit) I stand corrected. You are right... It is no longer there and or once you click the edit pass word and Email... There is nothing after. I apologize. The DEVS need to correct this PLEASE!

If an Atlas is unable to put any damage save "random spatterings" on a mech directly in front of it that is also large and slow moving before being killed, then the cause seems to be within its cockpit rather than mounted on your mech.

Ah,yes, and you have a Jager with what? Dual AC/20 as well? Your contribution to the discussion is useless since your mech HAS the space to mount damaging weapons.

Now try to be efficient with a LIGHT mech at 30 tonnes or less with MG's - not your cookie-cutter dual ac/20 jager.

Well, point blank range. AC-20. Triple SRM-6. Two large lasers. He could not see due to flamers. Could not get info on his hud due to MGs. And cannons hammering him. I mean could you see through the receiving end of this? He was one of 3 Atlai that I soloed in that match with just a camera commando following me (that has no weapons). It took one that had an escort to get me, as the first two died. Of course, this rig has 98% front armor.

Meh -
Ask the Devs 32 made hopes Death From Above and collision in general might make it back into the game around the Highlander release and now it seems we have to wait till after launch.
