Take a 5V-Spider and try to fight any light mech. Even a commando tears u appart. Try to master a 5V, u'll end up taking a large pulslaser and fight with ur 10 Firepower instead of any config with MGs...(and die for every little xp u can get, just to get quick something else but not this horrible 5V-mech). Is this the Intention of the devs? Why do u give <40t Mechs ballistic slots? Why bring out a Flea with ballistic slots?

Like in every game there are players who love to play light, fast scouts and dont care bout thin armor. BUT where is the sence if u do almost no dmg? Do u think running arround and typing in chat beware in D5 is a atlas and in D4 a trebuchet... ahhh wait i got to go there comes a mighty commando and i dont have the 10mins and 10k bullets to kill him... is all a ballistic light mech can do? I dont descripe how long the commando would need to kill u, even with only energy weapons.

To say it in one sentence, without any mathe, just how it feels after hundreds of battles: "this weapon is NOT balanced".

Oh, and on the subject could we maybe not make one of the trial mechs a Raven with machine guns and a top speed of 81 KPH?

Any ballistic light should never ever be the trial. They're terrible, through and through.

Also the ballistic Cicada, never let that be the trial. They're little more than traps designed to kill noobs and newbs alike.

If he thinks machineguns are okay it explains a whole lot of poor balancing decisions - he's not playing the same game.

Yup. Although as a 20-ton light with a speed cap, it always was.

Bryan said in his coolant post that he personally uses 19 SHS in his K2.

This cannot possibly be true.

It really is like they're playing a different game than us.

I don't know how many times I need to tell you all that I told you so.

In PGI's game everyone runs balanced builds, there is no problem with boating or the heat system, and machine guns are useful. I want to play that game!! :P

I kind of agree with PGI here. I once saw a Jager with pulse lasers and multiple MGs go around wrecking stuff. I was amazed at how quickly components were destroyed once the armor was penetrated.

CPLT-K2

This one is a K2 with 2 PPCs and 2 MGs with 24 SHS. I would not run it, but it might be an improvement to Garth's.

The problem is that once the armor is gone other weapons will do the job better. The MGs will take out the internals quickly, but other weapons will do that AND do more damage to the mech. And you don't kill a mech just by stripping the internals. And please note: MGs do not do additional damage to internal STRUCTURE. Only to components, such as weapons, ECM/BAP, heatsinks and the like. You still need a real weapon to kill the mech.

"Crit seeking" has always been a dumb idea.

And as it turns out using them for ammo crits is a myth as well. Only a ten percent chance of making it explode, even after you strip off their leg armor and destroying the component gives you the exact same odds anyway.

Why even have ammo explosions in game at those odds? It's not even a tactical decision at a 10% chance. If you stuffed your side torso with two tonnes of ammo that you never used and didn't bother with case you'd still only get an explosion once every five matches if your side torso gets nuked every single time.

The only reasonable explanation is that their test build is basically an alternate universe of our version. There they have the old R&R economy and true DHS...it's a wonderful place where no one fast caps and the game never crashes.
