That's about 9.3 damage per match.
My AC/20 stats show more than 283 damage per match over 142 matches. That's more average per match than my MGs have done total over 23 matches. And that's not all from a dual AC/20 JM. A lot of it is from a single AC/20 on an atlas with PPC or LL and Artemis SRM6.

My Atlases have 20 rear side torso armour, 24 rear centre (18 and 20 for my sniper RS). Even if you and I were to test it, and you concentrated all of that MG fire on one of my rear sections and provided nothing else damaged me there, you would never have made it through the armour with that damage-per-match, let alone strike a single one of all the juicy internals you're supposed to "crit seek."
"Devastating effect" indeed. That dev quote in the OP is just MG fanfiction.

like i guess you could take it as playing super hard mode but mgs really shouldn't be that.

Those stats were all from running a 4 MG SDR-5K from purchase through Basic.

Incidentally, with my stats the "devastating effect" of a mythical 6 MG Spider would be 28.11 damage to the back of an Atlas...
So what's your MG stats?
EDIT: Please include your damage per match score; just divide total damage (last number) by matches played (first number). It's an eye-opener, hopefully.
EDIT 2: Also of interest is your effective DPS with the MG. In theory it should do 0.4 DPS, but how much can you make it do? Divide your total damage by shots fired, and then multiply by 10 and you get the answer. Mine is 0.18, or not even half the theoretical DPS.
Yes, now they also stated that they only take things in to consideration if there is significant noise on the forums, so make some moar MG threads plz.
Hell, if we fill 90% of the forums with MG threads then maybe, just maybe they'll listen. But the moral of this story is: trust me on this, you'll want more MG threads!

But we're talking 1.5-2 tons. 2 medium lasers will take a long time to blow an entire hitbox to pieces too and that's not even counting the heat.

I put the others in there just for comparison, like the AC 10 I used in less than half the matches and did 2 more points of damage total than the MGs but even more telling is the sheer amount of MGs fired compared to the AC 10s.
damage per match: 17.41 rounded up
It doesn't take a scientist to realize something isn't working right. Also, MGs in the TT game could be effective against mechs, since originally there was only mechs. Even more so in the Solaris ruleset, where mounting 12 MGs was one deadly mech.

2 matches with the 5K Spider. 34.5 damage per match, or 8.625 per gun.
Also:
