Actually made this back in October 2012, but it was in the Fan Art thread. Figured I'd repost it here in Vids. Actually have a bunch (10) scripted episodes (actual episodes RvB style) written, but haven't had the in-game support (people willing to drop and stand there for the match duration) to be able to film them... Enjoy!

From original post:

"Just had the idea bouncing in my head ever since I saw that dance video. Couldn't help but wonder what the Mech-anics (see what I did there?) would think if they saw the stupid things most of us are doing to these multi ton machines on a daily basis."

Hennesy, do your friends call you Midas? You got one volunteer. I just hope it will involve gigantic spider mechs with 10 mechs worth of weapons.

LOL! Spidernaterover9000 would be great, unfortunately there's nothing like that in the game at the moment (but I bet if we got creative we could make something :D

Private message me your google email addy if you have one, and I'll send you access to the scripts on google docs!

If you can fill one team, I bet you could convince the other premade to participate/cease fire. I heard a whole clan pledged itself to help you, check your youtube comments.

From messaging between us, just thought this would be better on the thread:

ME: Sent. Episode 2 still needs voice for Beanor if you're interested, but more than anything, I need people to drop with so that I can film... I'll be uploading some audio clips to the drive soon, so you can hear what we've been working on. Episode 1 has been compiled, 2-10 are still raw audio (a lot of us ******* around), but we haven't decided if we're going to puppeteer to the tracks, or record 'live'...

THOMAS: If you can fill one team, I bet you could convince the other premade to participate/cease fire. I heard a whole clan pledged itself to help you, check your youtube comments.

ME: As far as the clan on the youtube page:

I joined them as soon as I got the message. A whopping two people showed interest... and the clan disbanded a month later... so yeah...

I did however run into others from that clan who ended up wanting to help out, and made them into characters, but we've been sitting on these scripts since December, and there's only about 5 of us total, and I'm the only one that still even plays the game.

I'm really looking for people that are willing to dedicate a few hours to just dropping 8-mans so we can time it, and just chill for the matches while we record as much as we can get. Would probably need around 12-14 people depending on whether we're going to use the pre-records, or do it live (they can 'puppeteer' if we do pre-records).

Also, if they have decent software, would like them to record from their angle (hud off zoomed in so their mech isn't showing), would give me more to work with for editing and keeping the camera moving.

Would very much like to get some folks interested, once private matching is setup, things like this will be a breeze, but vids like these will be a dime a dozen by then...

Thomas, you have a chance to look at some of the scripts, or listen to audio? Still interested? Or, not what you thought?

There is the vid we tried to make in there as well, I put it under the Audio folder... I should probably rename that...

Hennessy, my selfish wish is that you'd make a video about your PvE idea. This video would really show people what you mean. I think your Werrier series is more South Park style. Comedy is good in moderation, if you choose to dedicate yourself to it I will be a warm body, but with your talents and vision I'd like very much to see you explore the former.

Agreed on all points. Unfortunately I just don't have the know-how to render something like that on my own.

The whole series was really built around what was capable in-game, and giant boss fights are just not quite in the cards with my current lack of video editing skills.

Although... I seem to remember a fight similar to what was described as Spidernatorover9000 in MechAssault: Lone Wolf (?), maybe I can get creative, and see if I can nab a clip, and do some fancy (well, fancy for a n00b) editing and layering to make it appear 'in game'.

I'll test it out and get back to you.

I do think though, if I can get the series up and running that I may be able to get more developer support for something like you described. Especially if it's popular enough...

Sounds intriguing on some level. I think in the spirit of the PvE original post the spider mech was a joke. I think the point was a single player like campaign that was cooperative. If we put on a play of a campaign(with MWO mechinema) could be really interesting.

Heh, just a thought, you could make a Merk parody of the 2009 video. Or we could roleplay the unfinished story to add to my post above.

I'm not sure how many of the episode scripts you read, but it does take a more serious turn eventually. The real problem of conveying PVE vs PVP is that if you're not fighting a "boss" then it might as well be a PVP match... On the other hand, things like escort missions, and wave (survival) challenges would be completely doable with the current game system, drop-ship attacks and taking down designated targets (buildings), would not. I do understand your hesitation in using something that is inherently comedy to represent a serious PVE campaign idea. My only rebuttal is that I do not want to end up with something that takes itself too seriously. At least not all the time... Please (if you haven't already) look through the rest of the scripts and I think you'll see that most of the comedy comes from the way the characters react as opposed to the situation they are in, and these types of missions are exactly what I had planned out for them eventually. But, enough trying to justify my silliness. I wouldn't mind working on a more serious project at all, even if it has nothing to do with what I've already scripted. Oh, and I'll definitely look at the original 2009 ad and see if I can do anything with it.:D
