...unanimous that the people who've seen this want ECM exactly how it is currently implemented!

Well there are people that think the current state of LRM is balanced. Or even funnier, some still consider LRM, OP. So yeah I'm sure there are those that love how ECM is currently implemented. They get to play in poptard heaven.

Wow! So, BAP will be changed to 100% negate ECM within close range. Seems they kind of reversed the roles between ECM and BAP, but this is better than nothing.

I will take this bone. At least an ECM mech can't hug LRM boats without even firing on them and completely lock them out.

So, in Battletech information warfare works like this:

Beagle Active Probe provides additional sensors that allows you to locate hidden 'Mechs - that is, 'Mechs that are shut down, purposefully camouflaged, or out of line of sight within its 120 meter bubble. Beagle Active Probe also allowed a 'Mech to gain more information on an enemy by allowing the player to look at the enemies record sheet seeing all data on it.

Guardian ECM had three modes, in its first mode it blocked Beagle Active Probe, along with Artemis, C3 and Narc. Its second mode we also have, which was counter ECM. Its third mode is one we don't have yet in this game. In Battletech, ECM did not completely negate sensors or missile locks, but it inhibited their function a bit in a mode called Ghost Target. 'Mechs affected by Ghost Target mode suffered a +1 penalty for weapon attacks, but it didn't completely block them out.

This is where the two interact with each other; in standard mode, ECM blocked Beagle's scanning ability. However, in Ghost Target mode, Beagle countered ECM!

We had a system where we could provide information via Beagle's active sensor probing; could block that information gathering with ECM; could provide a penalty against enemy weapons; but could be blocked with the other information warfare item.

Right now information warfare is still revolving around ECM denying information. Beagle doesn't give you any more information, it solely exists now to counter ECM's strict denial of information, which was what ECM's job was suppose to be, only ECM was suppose to deny Beagle and other high end electronics -- not everything else in the game.

PGI's decision to make Beagle a total counter for ECM is another one-for-one counter system of hard blocks which doesn't solve imbalances or problems with the system at all, it only bandaids them if you take the bandaid into the game with you. Without the bandaid, the equipment it bandages is still a festering wound.
