Being a long time fan of Battle Tech and the MechWarrior universe, from table top to every computer game that has had the franchise name, I would like to say a few things. This is the best looking (Mech design) game thus far. I gotta say so far the mechs are looking pretty good and getting better. The death of the mechs has much to be desired, its a volatile reactor prone to big nuke style overloads... not every time but if you do things just right... big-botta-boom.
Now just speaking of the universe... not the game mechanics, ohh that’s another gripe all together. I feel that the game is missing the point of giant mechs entirely. It was never the desire of the original creators for mechs to slug it out entirely on their own. Mech combat was short and fierce, just a few blows deciding a mech on mech fight. Mechs were the trump cards in a military unit. Most fights were based on who could get the best timed intel, aka good scouting and avoidance. Scouts were never slated in a combat roll unless the enemy didn't have a mech force. Fielding an Atlas meant you had overwhelming military power and high financial backing. Anyway....
My point is that this mech on mech combat while cool fits not in the universe you claim, nor is it much fun after a while. The reason its cool stomping around in a 100 ton death machine is you should be the trump card, kicking little tanks and field units around like toys. Not dealing with 5 other 100 ton machines. Missions in previous games and the table top had multiple objectives, and at times avoiding open mech on mech combat is key.
You chose a mech force based on what you needed to accomplish. Each mech has a role, from scout to assault. Now in your game a medium mech holds no merit. Medium mechs were forced on those unable to afford the better or those that knew a medium would best fit the mission. Medium mechs would slaughter assault classes in tight spaces like a city. I think you see where I am going with this. Your game is going for the Mech Street Fighter, Chun-Li vs Zangief kinda thing. Yet it just doesn’t quite work. You expect people to work together... but for what? And why? You expect people to get excited about getting in game cash that is unable to buy everything that the game has? Currently that's all that's offered and from what I see of your plans nothing will change in that department.
I'm not bashing you, I'm pointing out flaws that I see. Flaws that hurt the experience for most of us. You will never make everyone happy but the core MechWarrior people like myself need more substance than mech on mech Street Fighter. I have been bashing mechs since .NetMech on Windows 95 (launched in DOS on a 14.4 modem) and your game is nothing new... its a step back in many regards.
Bring out missions, Co-Op, Timed, and Solaris Best of the Best. Don’t think of this so much as a FPS and go to the roots of your universe. I hate to say it... if you go into the FPS world this game will not survive the cut... stick with the roots and live up to the world you claim to be part of. I care about this game, it has potential but it needs to take immediate action to shift gears back to its core. In the end you are MechWarrior not Call of Mech, Mech of Honor, Duke Mech'm or even Street Mech.
Please. Stay with the universe you love and bring a MechWarrior to it.... not just another FPS.

I actually agree. I've been an avid fan of the MechWarrior franchise ever since MechWarrior 4: Vengeance. (In fact, it was one of my first PC games!) They should really consider adding a new game mode, with sort of a base assault style gameplay, but with each team getting added support from infantry and/or tanks/helicopters. Of course they could keep all of the old modes as-is with this too.. But I mean come on.. Who wouldn't want to go stomp over some tanks and infantry from time to time just to be reminded that they're actually in a mech.

It would be nice to have a bit more depth to combat. I still find it hard to believe that this game didn't start on Solaris... at least it would have fit the game play and a free for all would be better than needing to rely on pug players. Teams would have fought teams and pugs would have been straight out last man standing.
