average for 2k res body.rgb's would be about 4,408MB (4.4GB) for all 29 mechs
average for 1k red body.rgb's would be about 3,248MB (3.2gb) for all 29 mechs

As in the size of the images or the size of the files that give us that - in game?

The total amount of space used by the game on your HD, in an unpacked state. that is the size difference.

1.2 Gigs then.

Seems kinda odd - why would you pay more for the 1st 1K than the second?

Or is that ignoring the size of the files for the mech themselves?
(IE am I forgetting to calculate that)

The total unpacked (uncompressed) filesize footprint of all 29 mechs would be those two sizes within a few % if they made all of the mechs either 2k res (higher quality) vs 1k res (lower quality)

As it stands all mechs, except for the Jenner have a 2k res Specular (how light interacts with the mech, and how its base texture quality is), but most only have a 1k res body.rgb (thats the paint job how crisp it is or looks)

The mechs with 2k .rgb/.spc look the best. I am just feeding you guys info.

As it stands right now, all 29 mechs occupy 3.62gb on your hard drive when unpacked, while packed however it only takes up 2.15gb

Having all 29 mechs be 2k, once packed would be about 2.5gb
Having all 29 mechs be 1k, once packed would be about 1.5gb

Awesome thread by the way.

Be willing to drop with us, and look good while doing it, (it is very hard to avoid looking at the Camera man, I know, I am just too damn sexy for my own good, but you must resist.) That way I can capture the 'magic'

Dunno if I'd look good I have a reasonable number of mechs, some colors, but no patterns yet, but willing to give it a shot! :(

another 1k to 2k comparison for everyone

Open both images in seperate tabs, maximize them, line them up, and switch back and forth, you will start to see the difference in texture quality, I promise :(

Look more at the detail work, not the broad colors, try to read the small stuff, thats where the difference really pops, look for the little white hook :(

I was - that was actually more where the 'wuf' came from.

I have been trying* to get higher resolution texture mods to work with FO3 the past few weeks - and while the textures in MWO are 'fine' for now - I am in no way unhappy to see people campaigning for better.

*another PC bizzaro time - why would adding higher resolution textures cause the game to CTD?
I have double, triple.... I am actually on my 12th time checking to make sure I installed them right - they ran fine on my old PC! :D

Insufficient video memory (or system memory; I can't remember if FO3 does or not, but some engines cache the textures in system ram _and_ video ram) is one common one. These textures may have worked fine on your old PC, but are you using any other new textures right now that you weren't before? Other mods?

Same mods - stronger PC. (newer Motherboard and Graphics card are the big differences)

Edit: Sadly if it was that simple of a problem I think I would have found it by now.
Also probably would have figured out why it doesn't like emulators as well :(

Load order? New versions of those mods that are incompatible and/or buggy? CTD issues even on a new game? Sadly, I haven't played fo3 in ages. (Skyrim addiction) so I'm not up on current issues there.

Might be better to take this into PM's so we don't drive poor Lordred out. :(
