1x Gauss, 3x ML. Slow, but man it really compliments allied snipers.

Anyone else find it sad that the most common builds for the G from what I'm seeing here are the following?
Lasers (+MGs, for the noise mainly)
One Gauss (which will mean you get disarmed even faster, plus it's better on the 4H)

The 4G needs some love when variant quirks come around.

3 ac5s. I tried it at the end of closed beta in a 'hey, what the heck' moment, and it ended up being more entertaining then I expected. I still want to try 3ac2 really bad on that thing.

You need a macro or to drum your fingers to get it to work properly, unless you're thinking about just firing them all at once...

Edit: With an XL dont stand still, if you see the enemy your only speedsetting is (84) 92kph...!

Stick with the 4P or 4SP if you want AC action there are better mechs that dont have a GIGANTIC hitbox where your main weapon is. The founders version of this mech is just terrible. That said i love the other variants...

I use a masterlevel Founder HBK-4G with ...

STD Engine 200 (70kp/h tweaked)
Endo Steel
DHS
Full STD Armor

1x AC/20 (3 tons ammo)
3x Medium Laser
1x AMS (1 ton ammo)

Its's a nice support buddy for short range assault brawlers. The 4G is slow, but with STD engine and full armor, it can take much dmg for it's weight.

Ac/20 3 tons ammo, 3 MLs, full armor except legs (31 each there), STD 225 - 12 total DHS. Works well for me, Goes 72.9 before speed tweak

This is what I drive, but with just the minimum 10 DHS, and use the extra tonnage for an AMS with 1 ton ammo and an extra half-ton armour. I've learned to love this mech, despite owning better Hunchbacks.
