With Cicadas [the insect] set to hatch in the East Coast [USA] next month, it would be cool if there was something MW related to celebrate the once in every 17 year event. Thoughts?

It’s not once every 17 years. Its every year. The ones we see this year were planted by the fairies 17 years ago.

My rose hair tarantula loves this time of year, and I love being sung to sleep by them. They make for good fishing also.

Sounds fun. Maybe all the trial mechs could be Cicadas for just one weekend, along with a 50% off sale for everything Cicada related and so forth.

Cicadas hatch every year, not every 17th as the OP alludes. They DO spend 17 years in the ground before they emerge though, but there's enough broods that Cicadas hatch every year.

Yeah, I say do it. I'm sure Garth's in favor of anything Cicada related too.

Cicadas do come up every year and it is just about time for them. Sounds like a good event to me.

There are different varieties of cicada. Some hatch every year, and spend a year underground. Some hatch every 13 years, and spend 13 years underground. This year the 17 year cicada is due. So we will have all the normal 1 year cicadas + the 17 year cicadas.

There are going to be a lot of cicadas around.

We could always jump ahead in the timeline this one time and add the Cicada-3F. Cicadas + jump jets = fun.

X5 sale!

I'd go play Cicadas again... for the Cicada with JJs if that ever came to pass. The 3C would get some love too... well, until after a MG buff.

Please, I even provided a link. Click it. Read the page that loads. The Magicicada has enough broods that there's hatching of 17-year cicadas every year.

There are lots of types of cicada... I'm sure an argument could be made for color sales. This is just a tiny glimpse.

Yes, they do hatch every year. But there are certain cycles where there are -more- than usual. And even some years where there's much less than usual.

Needless to say, I support a Cicada Event!

I didn't expect a debate about cicada breeding cycles when I logged on to a science fiction robot combat forum

Well, when Cicadapalooza gets rolling, wierd things happen.

EDIT: Or would "Whatcha gonna do, brother... whatcha gonna do when Cicadamania runs WILD on you!?" be better?
