Please Buff The Mg

1. Light mechs need something for the ballistic slot.
2. MGs currently do 1/3 the damage of light lasers (which are already underutilized and rarely used effectively)
3. It currently takes 40s for a 6 MG jagermech to core an atlas from the back. It takes 12s for a 6 sl stalker.
4. MGs have horrendous range.
5. MG damage is spread
6. Critical component only accounts for 1/3 of a mech's health and is a bad balancing mechanic.
7. By the time a MG begins to crit a component. a light laser already killed the enemy mech. DESTORYING ALL OF ITS COMPONENTS.
8. Speaking from a realism point, the MG weighs 1.5 tons. And is not the same machine gun we use today. This much heavier machine gun is used by mechs against mechs.
9. MG predated infantry and vehicles in Battletech
10. They deal 2 damage per turn vs. MECHS in TT. That's the same as an AC2, with (a lot) less range.

no, acording to battletech, they are weapons that get BONUS against infantry, but are still perfectly capable to quickly sand off armor of any mech or armored vehicle...dont talk about **** you dont know anything about

people seem to not realise that 0,5kg slugs do serious damage to armor, just look at this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.50_BMG
http://en.wikipedia....ing_machine_gun
consider the fact that that weapon is puny when compared to mwo MG...
mg should probably be:
0,12dmg per round, 1.2dps
1250 ammo per ton(or slightly less, but not under 1000)
OR
they should pierce the armor on critical hit and deal crit damage to internals even thou the mech is stil armored

No.... in Battletech, MGs were for fighting infantry or light unarmored vehicles. The only time you put them on a mech is if you had a couple of tons free, couldn't find anything else to use it for and didn't have the heat sinks to fill it with lasers, then and only then did you ever equip MGs.
MGs were a hindrance in Battletech, because they reduced your salvage. MGs did insignificant damage (no hope of getting a kill from them) but spread that damage over the entire mech, reducing the armor that you got in salvage afterward. Enemy mechs using MGs were annoying because it meant you had to replace the armor they destroyed even though that damage had no chance of killing you.
MGs were never designed to be used against other mechs, get over it already. Stop creating 20 threads a day in every forum possible about MGs.

it is simply not true, battletech MG is much more effective against enemy mechs than MWO one, pure fact, and there is no infantry in MWO so EVEN if it were true saying MWO MG is anti-infantry weapon is stupid...
also, MWO does not folow battletech rules and curent MG is simply ********, its not battletech, its not realistic as we have better machine guns today with weight much lower than 500kg, its nothing, piece of trash
