Shift the ECM to another variant that doesn't have or just very little missile hardpoints.

The problem as most of us have seen is the combination of ssrm's and ecm on a single mech. How about move the ecm ability to another variant that won't be able to abuse this system as much or not at all.

For eg: Remove ecm from the Atlas AS7-D-DC and put it onto the Atlas AS7-K. The K model Atlas already has the worst setup where one extra ams has removed a missile and a ballistic hardpoint from the mech making it the most unpopular variant of the 4. You will be hard pressed to see one fielded anymore. Adding ECM to this mech will breathe life back into the variant and only having a single missile hardpoint makes it impossible to boat at all.

Same could go for having the ecm switched to the Commando Com-1b and the Raven RVN-4X.

The two that have already followed this line of setup is the Spider SDR-5D and the Cicada CDA-3M. Without missile hardpoints these variants use the ecm for what it's ment for which is stealth and protection from missile locks for themselves and the team.

The other variants such as the RVN 3L and Com-2D use ecm as a selfish protection blanket for themselves so they can do onto others that you cannot do upon them ..... unless your in the same setup.

This change would mostly benefit the pug games and 8 man drops wouldn't change at all due to the use of coms being used by the whole team. I also know people out there that aren't abusing this mechanic but they are rare.

And kudos to those who already use the other ecm variants that don't take advantage of the current unbalance.

Again this is just an idea, so descriptive responses would be appreciated (negative ones are still appreciated when explained with detail too)

The proposal doesn't do much/anything for 'Mechs like the RVN-3L (where the stock loadout comes with a Guardian ECM Suite, a Narc Missile Beacon, and a SRM-6 launcher), which necessarily come with both ECM capability and multiple Missile hardpoints...

Im not sure if ive explained it correctly. The idea is to "remove" ecm from exsisting mechs that exploit the ssrm system, and add it to variants that cannot exploit the system as much or not at all. The other variants i have already listed in my original post.

And the point I was making was that the suggestion presented does not - and cannot - be applied to all 'Mechs... and one notable example of an instance where the suggestion does not - and cannot - be used is the very 'Mech that is so often the target of such complaints: the RVN-3L.

Likewise, the primary configuration of the Clan-built Hankyu OmniMech (around during the Invasion era - debut in 3037) comes stock with the Clan equivalent of Guardian and two missile mounts (LRM-5 launchers as stock), and is likewise not able to be subject to the suggestion presented in the OP; imagine what such a 'Mech would be if the LRM-5s were exchanged with Clan Streak SRM-6 launchers... and the ensuing outcry... :)
