This Champion concept should be a module you can purchase for MC and apply to whichever mech you want. Much cleaner, suits everyone equally, and doesn't start filling the Pilot Lab and other places in the game with non-variant "variants" like the Dragon custom trial mech does currently. It's not technically a variant, it's simply a 5% XP bonus placed on it. Perfect for a module.

Yeah I heard someone saying this same thing a while ago. It seems like a great idea.

However if they wanted to make more money they'd have it be a 1 time use thing to apply to any mech.

But... If they could design a new mech worthy of it, then it might sell better?

Who knows... Well see. I honestly think because so many people cry and moan about hero mechs that there won't be anymore, only champion mechs if they do seem to actually be whole mech variants themselves.

It's going to be a variant that already exists in the game, isn't it? Just with a 5% xp bonus?

Is this really compelling to anyone?

I don't get it either. I'd imagine it's an MC mech too. Even if it could be purchased with C-bills I don't think a mere 5% XP bonus would entice me to scrap a variant I already have. Even in the very best case scenario if its a variant I don't already have that I want and it can be purchased with c-bills, I'd have to do the math on how worth it that would be because I value Cbills more than XP.

The stuff the devs release...I can only guess that folks really do go for this stuff or they wouldn't bother releasing it in the first place...but really...it just boggles the mind.

If that's the way its gonna be it could just be something for the newer players.

You have to admit, if the xp bonus is a gxp bonus too, Champions will be ballin'.

yes a whopping 5% increase OMG SO OP lol
so you basicly get one games worth of gxp for every 20 or so games? yes your right that is OP.
I can live without it, thats definnatly not worth MC. Heck for what they usualy charge MC wise for mechs you could get more out of the same MC ammount spend on premium time. Even if you piloted the champion exclusively for months.

going by how much i play and assuming the mech would cost 1 months premium time worth of MC (doubtful 2 seems more likely) it would take me a year+ to get the same ammount of GXP/XP as i would from the premium time.

Its just a gimmick to get people to spend money without thinking.

If they released a variant that I already love that gives a big GXP and CBill boost, that might have some merit.

I've not purchased hero mechs before because they aren't particularly good compared to many cbill variants, but they get the big bonuses. I'm a competition minded player who doesn't give up an edge for anything however, so this makes no sense for me.

Now the devs release a mech that will be as good as what I already have, but without an added benefit that makes almost any cost worth it. 5% is a hilariously irrelevant bonus. Actually in retropect I don't think it's even worth debating this with the devs about this because that bonus is so utterly and completely far away from what would get me to even spend c-bills, let alone MC, on it that you realize that no compromise would be acceptable.

Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong. The devs want to make sure I keep my money. They realize that I have bills and that there are more responsible uses for the cash. Those devs are so altruistic. It truly is touching. Warms the heart really.

You have to beat the elite four 7 times with only urbanmechs and without losing any and then go behind Ducan Fisher's cottage.

They would just make it a module you can purchase as many times as you want but it cannot stack. So you could add the module to each of your mechs if you wanted.

5% is really about perfect for a module, I really don't get why they want the duplicative variant direction with this.

5% interest is better than you'll get from a bank. Now if only it compounded...

It's here:
http://mwomercs.com/...edition-winner/

Contest to design a trial mech.

Its a trial mech now. If you look at it's model designation it ends with ( C ) similar to the ( F ) of the founders mechs.

I think ur right EgoSlayer. Given your evidence. BlueSanta it sounds like the patch will do something favorable for RVN 2,4X by that.

(thank you by the way for intending to help)

Also I keep hearing the 5% complaint but there's been some good arguments posted here for it. It's like a- be it small, permanent premium time. If you grind to a 15,000 module it may only save you 9 matches, but at 10 of those its 90 matches. Double XP Weekends makes it 10%. Mixing it with premium time for more.

*broken record*
Hopefully they rethink it as an MC module, which makes more sense and you could buy as many as you want, limit of one per mech of course (i.e., non-stackable on a single mech). That would alleviate the mess this will make of the mechlab, pilot lab XP lists, etc, by adding faux variants into the lists.

I don't think F2P players would be upset about that because essentially its a P2L module since you give up 1 module's worth of combat effectiveness Posted Image

That said if my favorite mech variant inherently had an xp increase and all of it's module slots open that would objectively be better for me. PGI could do both. They also could limit your xp module to non xp mechs if they didn't want to give too much xp away.

Placing my bet on a Stalker for the following reasons:
  • Assault month
  • Assault sale
  • Hero mechs for Highlander, Awesome
  • Atlas is a Founder's mech, i imagine them holding off on any special variant on those
  • Stalker is the one Assault mech that doesn't have a special variant
  • There is a sale on the Stalker 3H so it obviously wouldn't be this variant
  • More likely to be a 5S or 5M, saving the 3F for a 3F-based Hero
