Just curious. I would like them all, but personally Tourmaline's sky might look the coolest with a night mode. Maybe make it freezing cold, idk.

Ideas?

Voted Alpine Peaks, just because we need more of that in rotation even if it is just a map variant.

Night like Frozen City Night? All of them.

Night like River City Night? None of them.

Everything except Alpine. The less that map turns up in the rotation, the better.

Tourmaline. This nebula, high albedo of sand combined with dark crystals... Should be beautiful and navigable. And yes, temperature at night can be lowered because of thin atmosphere and no signs of geothermal activity.

Alpine should be beatiful too: high albedo of the snow, two moons - similar to Frozen City night (which I like), but offering even better views. And make it even colder, too! But as we already have Frozen City Night, Tourmaline night is a priority.

Caustic, on the other hand, should be hell to play at night. Thick atmosphere and volcanic activity means temperature won't be lowered so much. Clouds will prevent moons from illuminating the scene and volcano will still spoil thermal vision.

I think Forest Colony can wait anyway, as it already has two variants, unlike all of the above maps.

Seriously, that wasnt me trolling, there should have been a "none of the above" or "none" option OP.
Night vision mode is crap, and darkness is too. Imo Id rather have entirely new maps than 6 maps with four variants, night, day, stormy, sunny

Then again making new maps costs like a quarter of a million each :)
That cant have been right was it? My sleep addled mind says that cant be right but Im too tired to find the right quote

No I fully agree actually. I hate playing on River City Night because it necessitates the constant use of Thermals. Night Vision now is slightly better but either way a visually attractive game is now dragged through what I lovingly refer to as "ugly monochrome filters". At least Bluewarrior is finally gone.

Tourmaline Desert... But only if it get the RC:N treatment

because finding people on that map is not hard enough as it is.

A sandstorm version would be cool to... imagine FC but eithout the aid of heatvision... =P

Alpine would be a fun night, total blackout, or low light map.

There is a lot of mechwarriors that are afraid of the dark.

I love the darkness.

None of the above, and stop dropping me in River City Night every time please. If I wanted to play monochrome I would have bought Pong.

You shouldn't always need thermal/nv on a night map. Like Frozen City Night, only sometimes. RCN, though, is rough without t/nv, it doesn't have to be that way. I don't mind RCN so much with the new t/nv anyways. I hide and stalk much better.

Well that's not at all what I said; I just said that I don't want almost every single match to be on RCN like it was yesterday for me.

I actually really like Frozen City Night, it's one of my favourite maps.

Personally I would like River City Night to come up rarely though because it's so dark that you're forced to use an ugly annoying vision mode.

Perhaps if they added mech searchlights it would be a fun novelty, but even then it would only work if the lights interfered with nightvision and you could launch flares to disrupt thermal vision.

Tourmaline, because its a great map, and deserts can be much colder at night, so the night would have an effect on gameplay, too.

None of the above. I don't really care for night maps. I enjoy seeing mech paintjobs. Also, Forest Colony already has one at dusk, practically night-time.

Also, if they really did release alternate versions of Alpine and Tourmaline, you will see a spike in disconnects again because a lot of people are tired of playing larger maps and having a second variant of a map essentially doubles the frequency that map will appear. They really need a map size filter.

with all the view modes coming and an emphasis on light and dark and pinpoint aiming, I don't see why we don't have a spotlight like LL
