Right now, ECM is a passive ability with some passive counters. The only truly active counters would be "shoot him with PPCs", which isn't a decision since you'd be doing it anyway if you have some, and "equip a tag", and hindsight is 20/20, but not fun. The player, in the moment, basically must stop using missiles and fight harder, that's it.

Asa suggestion, narc should scramble ecm for the 20 seconds it's attached if nothing else of the two techs will change.
Narc...didn't that used to cause unlocked missiles to home in on it? (in 3 or 4)
To someone that mentioned it's hard to keep a fast target tagged...its really not at all.you can even keep two mechs tagged by using fasting sweeping if they are close enough.the tag seems to last one second.that's plenty of time to keep nicking someone with a beam that is constantly on.

That's just supposition, it could also very well be that with HSR, and the fixes to hit boxes, and performance improvements that have removed almost all lag, that all those people that were using lights with ECM as the easy "I'm Invincible/God Mode" button have changed what they run in, since it is MUCH easier to shoot them now.

It's this, which killed the amount of ravens, which actually didn't lower ECM but made them switch to D-DCs instead.
In december, during the reign of the 3L, 18% overall were lights, 5.6% overall 3Ls, D-DCs were 8.6% overall, and 16% overall were ECM mechs in general.
In March after the first couple netcode changes were implemented (not sure if laser SR was in yet around the beginning of March), Lights dropped to 12%, 3Ls dropped to 4.6%, D-DCs increased to 9.9%, and ECM remained at 16%.
More netcode changes, missiles rendered useless (as thought by QQers), D-DCs value goes down (as the 3 missile racks become "dead" weight), Atlas Ds value goes up (due to 4 energy slots), and you get the latest results of a 12% ECM presence as Raven 3Ls slip even further to 3.4% and D-DCs tank to 5.9%, almost a 50% drop. Note also how Awesomes except the 8V saw a stark rise in use as well as the Heavy Metal giving assaults their very own poptart.
Though I'd prefer all discussion of my results to be in my thread http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__2220919 because it does take me a lot of time and effort to do this for it to disappear instantly >.>

ECM is a defacto inviso shield in this game period.

You need to learn what invisible means. Also shield. And defacto...

Replace Guardian ECM with ACTUAL Guardian ECM.
Right now its doing the job of 4 systems. Guardian, Angel, Stealth, Nullsig.
Make each 1.5 tons and 2 crits each.
BAM, Problem solved.
The best arguement against the current ECM mechanic is that it does TOO MUCH for such a small investment. It also makes any other system in its spectrum invalid because it already does their job!
With the other 3 systems in the game you can also parcel out some of them to other less optimal mech designs, making them more viable!
This would encourage build diversity AND introduce a saner fair penalty for running the full suite of ECM.

ECM was equiped on which mech ?
Its pretty important a DDC is way more dangerous than an ECM spider.
Also 150 games is not enough you need something like 20 000 games to start having a picture, and only the dev have acces to such stats.
You clearly haven't studied statistics. 150 games should be plenty. 20,000 is insane overkill (though the devs should have access to that many).
Even their sample of 36 games with a difference in ECM representation should've been useful and given accurate results within about 2-3% accuracy. However, the issues is not when you just have 1 more ECM than the other team. They only had 3 games where there was an ECM deficit of more than one. Also, the fact that it was a 30/50 weekend produced tremendous skew and substantially underrepresented ECM usage.
