the title says it all. if the flamer does more heat to one self (0.5) than to targets (0.2) then how is it of any use?!? I don't get it, makes no sense at all. it should be the other way around and deal more heat damage too. you should definetly buff it for it to become a useful weapon.

If they do, the problem is flamer boats can become frustrating - max cooling for, say, 7 flamers if they created a Hunchback would be really broken.
At least this way the idea is you could take flamers and use them effectively against, say, a PPC boat since you only need to cool the flamers and they need to cool their guns.
These are tricky to balance. I'm personally in favor of increasing their secondary damage.

the flamer like the MG is a weapon whos usefulness is gone in the lack of infantry and destructible terrain. it's never been a great anti mech weapon and it never will.

well, I tried the flamer out and it seems like the 0.5 is just a one-time-per-klick heat addition instead of continuous heating to oneself. in that case I guess it is alright the way it is. so nevermind.

i beleive the devs set the "Round" lentgh at 3 seconds so the flamer woul do the listed damage that often.
the most usefull thing it does in this game is blind the enemy...a buff from TT use it.
