So, I have been lurking on these forums for the better part of 6 months or so. Like all of you I am looking forward to MW:O and what it has to offer for us Battletech fans and wanted to share one of my favorite Battletech memories.
In the late 80's (I know, I'm old) I attended a gaming convention in Maine where there was a Battletech "Hardcore" Tournament. Each player brought a lance built around a specifc, total tonnage and aside from the standard rules of the game each player was required to be field painted miniatures.
It was great to see Battletech game played all with figures and model terrain and then the "hardcore" part of the game took place. When a mech was destroyed the player that received the "kill shot" got to take the model and destroy it...in any way they wanted.
Most used hammers and pounded these painted figures into the concrete floor, others stomped on them with boots, on guy even brought a small grinder and took the models outside to "work over".
Anyhow, seems a little extreme of course, but it was a fun event with about 25 players and a lot of wrecked models at the end. I said goodbye to my Locust, Rifleman and beloved Archer that day...managed to keep my Hunchback.
Here's to all things Battletech!
