That AC/20 ammo is sure precious. Or heavy. Whatever it is, 7 shots per ton doesn't seem to go far during some matches!

I have a JM6-S with two AC/20 and 5 tons of ammo. I try to make my shots count, but man ... I just chased two dudes in circles, firing 4 Small Lasers at them, while my surviving teammate did the heavy lifting. It was a good match and I scored several kills and lots of damage, but nothing makes you want to visit the Mechlab and change some crap around like exhausting your ammo in a clutch situation!

How much do the experienced "AC/40" Jagermechs carry?

7 tons, the stuff has only a 10% chance to explode anyway

Medium lasers are your friends when your ammo bins run dry.

Wow someone voted 3 tons, for 2 AC20? Might as well drop one of them and get ammo and other weapons or DHS instead.

I generally carry 7 tons. It allows you enough room for energy fallback and enough shots to take out pretty much everything in the game.

I'd take 2 Medium Lasers over 4 Small Lasers for backup weapons on that mech anyday. With your speed, any extra range you can get is worth far more than the 2 extra damage per mini-alpha and quicker recharge time.

6 for me. I definitely run out about 20% of the time, but considering the damage that 42 AC/20 rounds can do, I consider my work to be done at that point :) I also run small lasers, and I get cockpitted so rarely in this thing that it might be worth it to drop them and stick another 7 rounds in.

I am torn between SLs and MLs, honestly. As you mentioned, range of engagement is the deciding factor. I find myself using them against lights most often, and typically this will be very close-range. If it was purely a backup weapon I would rather just have 2 more tons of AC/20 ammo.

On my -DD I run 7 tons, which lasts fine in most games, and 1 ML. On my -S I like 6 tons, but 4 ML and a smaller engine. 60pt alpha, YAY! :)

Yeah, that's about right, 5 or 6 tones for two weapons.

Where's the commitment? 8 tons, All ballistics or go home, Takes practice but once you learn to nail every shot in most cases your ammo should last til the end of the match unless you're wasting it trying to take out a light mech. And even then you just gotta time it right.

Why isn't yes an option? Why doesn't anyone ever ask about how much laser ammo I carry???

Also 8 tons because I go hard (and suck at aiming...)

6 tons is enough I've found.

I prefer to run a bit less ammo in favor of 4 med lasers. a nice 60 point punch when you need it it, and a decent bit of firepower when you run out of ammo.

4 lasers on an AC/40 Jager is mech abuse. You're using the wrong chassis. The useless JM6-DD is the one I turn into an AC/40 because there's not a whole lot you can do with that chassis IMO. Oh and 7 tons + 2ML for me.

The other Jagers you can do proper loadouts with :)
