PPC disruption effect is only good for streaks in my opinion, especially if you use Artemis with them (I know it is not supposed to work with streaks but it actually does!).

I loaded a Ppc, tag, 1 ML, 1 lrm 15, and 2 steaks in my Treb 7m, and I must say that the Ppc is most useful to get the steaks off, especially against a DDC.

If you have the slot, and ton for it. Then yes, use a tag. It can come in handy for lighting up those ECM mech's. And it does not generate heat, so...

All mechs should have tag, preferably in the constant on mode. That makes it easier for me to know when you are hiding around the corner.

If you have LRMs, or a team with LRMs, tag can be a very useful use of mass. I'd argue that you might want to use it only when you have a mech targeted, however. I was in a standoff in tourmaline this morning and was using the tag laser of the enemy to figure out when my target was looking in my direction or at a mech about 90 degrees the other direction. I was instrumental in ALWAYS catching him with his rear armor exposed, and in a postion where he couldn't turn fast enough for a return shot before I was back in cover.

My team was down 0 kills to 3 at the time. We ended up using the advantage for a final 8-3 victory.

Pilot a C4 Catapult never leave home without a tag ;) but this post has got me wondering how popular would I be if I bought a cheap commando put a tag on it and actually used it to paint targets with consistency....

I am trying that right now with a ECM equipped SDR-5D. I am sneaking behind enemy lines and TAG'ing from behind so they don't see the TAG beam. So far, no real gain from what I can tell. I've even called out the tactic beforehand on the team chat, and when painting targets call the target I am painting so they can lock on that particular mech. I think that with the public group games there isn't enough organization (or perhaps discipline or attention span) to take advantage of this. I could be wrong.

Regardless, I'm really enjoying the sneaky, ninja like feeling of doing this. It's weird, and really cool, to be sitting there with the ENTIRE enemy team 450m off, their backs to you, clueless to your presence. Even after lighting them up with TAG, they have no idea you're there. I've even had multiple instances of me firing my puny little ML's, getting 4-8 salvos in on someone's back, and they don't even notice I am doing it because they are so focused on the fire they are getting from my team. It's really bizarre, but fun.

But I do have TAG on one of my JM6's, my S model, and I plan on keeping it. For now. :(
