I am sure someone has figured this out, but how many mechs, and varients, are there in the game. Heros and otherwise. Just currently. If you maxed everything out how many bays.
Is three a place for statistics like this?

and it only takes three bays to do it.
Actually i think you can do it with one bay if you are really dedicated.
Also i am not sure anyone have explored the upper limits on mechbays... I heard a number of around 100 being tossed around.

Thats just crazy. At most I find the 1 or 2 varients that I love and sell the rest once they are grinded up. My total is 16 bays 5 available.
imt he type that just keeps the mechs i buy, i dont sell anything as its just a complete waste, well not totaly true ill sell most of my SHS (save a few to throw on mechs until i get DHS upgrade) and ill sell crappy engines that i will never use again. as far as mechs themselves you lose way to much when selling them.and never know when they might get tweaked later

I do the same, I used to sell weapons that I didn't need too, but then later on some mechs may make use of them, so stopped selling those too.

and how many variants do you see in a game out of 16 mechs?
I've counted around 5 max atm.

Even if it is only five different variants, it isn't the same five every single round. Sure, there are mechs that are more common than others, but I think most variants probably see a pretty good amount of playtime.

I'd argue that you tend to find five or more different mechs in most games. Take a few screen shots and see for your self.

No, I'll back that up, I see a wide variety of mechs in my day to day play... maybe not on the 'competitive' circuit, but that has more to do with a lack of creativity on the optimizers part and shifting for the meta rather than using niche builds to compliment a team.

There are 16 different BattleMechs with a total of 66 unique variants if you include the Hero Mechs. That number is going to go up by 4-7 mechs each month too as they release new BattleMechs and hero mechs.
I currently own 22 mechs, or 1/3rd of the total, and it is hard to make progress at trying to collect them all. The vast majority of players are going to elite or master, then sell, all but their favorite mechs, and this is definitely the fastest and cheapest way "max" everything out.
If your goal is to own all the mechs, you should buy one of the better hero mechs (Ilya Muromets is the best, Flame is pretty good too) and get premium time, then grind through Assault matches over and over. The C-Bills add up fast.
