Just wondering - I frequently pilot a spider 5d with an erppc or erll in the right arm - I often also equip TAG, a) for tagging items for my teammates, but I also started using it for :( an easy way to make sure my weapon arm isn't obstructed. Since I pilot the spider, I hide in nooks and crannies on tourmaline - often, the protrusions on the map inhibit my ability to fire. TAG helps with that; if the beam makes it out of my nook and/or cranny, then so will my ppc or erll. It's served me well; the last spider round I played I broke 600 damage.

sdr-5d
ecm
erll
tag
xl255
heat eff 255
4 jump jets.
advanced zoom

thoughts? I did it at first as an experiment... there wasn't enough weight left to mount a weapon that'd give me the range I want, so I threw TAG on there and it's worked great. No more wasted heat when hitting rocks in front of me instead of a fat atlas eye :P

How many other mechs do you think have a spare energy slot in the same location as the only main weapon they want to fire, and also lurk around rocks constantly?

It's a bit too specific to be useful to most people, plus it gives away your position just before you fire and warns your target to move- I've dodged a few LRM flights before they were even launched because of seeing a TAG beam.

Having said that, I'm glad it works for you and there may be other Spider pilots who will be glad you suggested it.

Works well on my "Megaman" Death Knell build (1 ERPPC + Tag).

Thanks for taking the time to reply :)

so far I've only had success with it on the spider, though to be honest I haven't tried on anything else. Now if only I could get ALL my razer mouse buttons to work in windows 8...

I use it on my 5D as well as one Jenner variant (the K since it is not as "good" as the other 2). I tend to keep it on continuously - also helps me get XP/Cbills on the rare occasion someone is actually carrying LRMs... not to mention it helps LRM ppl do more damage.

Incidentally - I love using it to make people freak out and dodge missiles that will never come.

I also use it to expose ECM hidden untis to pinpoint them on the map - especially if I am scouting so folks can react and adjust.

Folks only are warned by it you are in front of them...

I've done this with my Cent, and a few others (not always the same arm).

I find PPCS and ballsitics sometimes hit stuff your lasers/tags won't, especially in tourmaline and river city.

I'd like TAG to be a toggle though. Using a button messes with me.

Edit :TAG not ATG

yes, my main uses this build and it rocks;

ERPPC, TAG, SSRM2, 2 Machineguns, 5 jump jets, 1 ton mg ammo, 1 ton streak ammo. XL235 engine, endo steel structure, ferofibrous armor, and 10 dual heat sinks. Max armor on everywhere except for 2 points off each arm.

ppc is bound to mouse1, and everything else is bound to mouse2...
