I love the concept of the artillery strike / airstrike but I would really love some more strategic options. The concept + implementation could be easy, but really add some value to the game. Especially given the current status quo of alpha strike ppc and sniping.

1. Smoke screen: take my dang money already! I want this so badly. This could be so great to drop in front of your assault, or to even use as cover for your own sniping efforts to obscure the enemy's line of sight.

2. ECM bomb: rather straight forward to understand. A bomb that jams a certain area for a set duration, say 20seconds. Not sure how to deal with jamming vs. counter? I suppose it would be best just as a jam.

3. Movement Inhibit aoe strike: Sounds silly, but I think this could actually be really cool. AOE environmental effect that would inhibit all mech movement in an area, obviously it would fad over time. Bomb certain choke points to reduce the move speed of the enemy, or deny them the chance to escape.

4. I think this would actually be very cool, and help with the whole boo hoo my LRM boat is nerfed. This could be helpful for snipers and obviously for LRMs. Drop this over a hillside or what not and tag a set area of enemy mechs for a short burst (10seconds?).

5. NAPALM!: Give it to me already! At the very least the standard artillery shells, but with incendiary rounds. It would be infinitely more awe inspiring if it was more like napalm that was a damage over time that increased heat. They could even take it to the next level and literally have a firebomb that would lite the scenery on fire and create a zone of extreme heat for a bit.

6. Land mine drop: Jetfire "I would however like a mine drop call in to setup traps". That could be really devastating they would have to work with the weights as in only heavies and above would set it off. But that would be really interesting. I would just be a bit concerned about abuse, but it sounds great.

Anywho, let me know what you all think. I was just really hoping for so much more from the artillery options.

Not keen on the TAG bomb nor the sticky bomb barrage.

I would however like a mine drop call in to setup traps.

Flares for area illumination would be pretty useful too. Though I'd really like a sensor drop/drone. That would be pretty useful for information warfare (a part of the game which currently consists of ECM and everything else, where ECM beats everything else) if nothing else.

I would hands down take this with my Raven. Who wouldn't want ECM for their ECM?

I'm confused by the ECM bomb. Is that something that disrupts ECM? Or is it an ECM blanket to hide under for a duration?

IN MW4 (the MekTek expansion years) I would take smoke and it would lag people out really bad (the guys with old computers). There were certain specific video card drivers where you could disable rendering of that component so some people would be completely unaffected by the smoke cloud and could see / shoot through it just fine.

Kind of like jump sniping - slight griefing but you still win the match...

Hopefully if PGI adds something like this it won't have the same pitfalls.

I hate the current anything goes artillery system and I want it to die. Unless they implement team play as in having a spotter with some targeting device and a lance commander with a command console. in which case, I love artillery, bring it on!

smoke and napalm, the strike warining smoke in the game right now looks awesome. id like to see the strikes we got now illuminate the area similar to a meteor moving through atmosphere (edit: and an additional scan the entire field to help decide where to deploy the uav, like battlefield 2)

Voted for all but airdrop ECM. Bad enough Guardian ECM works like stealth armor and Angel ECM too in this game.

Very interested in smoke screens and the like.

Magnesium flares on a little parachutes would be so cool. Completely mess with everyone in the area using NV or TV. We can see you, but you can't see us sort of thing.

I really want better animations for Artillery Strike and Air Strike. They don't do that much damage right now and I don't know if I feel it should change; but I do feel that the crappy animations make them not worth my 15 MC.

Seriously, make better animations with an airplane flying overhead and good explosions, and I will spend 6 cents for Air Strikes more often. Right now I am buying them ... not at all, because I tried them both, and they suck! Not very useful and also not fun.
