If you expect to lose one of your side torso first before dieing, then take the D. It also offers better pinpoint damage than the DDC.

i like the D-DC for brawling. 2x LL, 3x SRM6, AMS, EMC and an AC/20, ammo and engine as you see fit.
the D can be built in numerous ways and it is totally up to you how to build it. my current build for the D:
2x LL, 2x MLas, Gauss and 2x SRM6, AMS, Endo, DHS and a STD325 engine.

edit: keep your distance when you equip a Gauss, because it gets torn apart pretty fast.

Founders Atlas is win.

Having four lasers is a huge advantage for the Atlas D & K.
