If class matching is here to stay then the Dragon/Awesome/Cicada/Commando are in clear need of buffs. However, this would unbalance the game heavily if weight ever started to matter instead of class. AS SUCH.... can we just please talk why we're sticking with class matching instead of the blatantly superior weight matching/

Pgi Can We Talk About Weight Matching Rather Than Class Matching?

In a random solo/small-group game what reason would a player have for using 1 of these mechs if the game used tonnage rather than weight class matching?
I understand the reasons a player might take a less effective mech in an 8-man drop such as allowing the team to take an extra heavy rather than a medium but in random matches players generally aren't going to hurt their own performance by taking a less effective mech.
This would also cause some serious balance issues if groups started doing the min/max group setups to run with more lights and assaults knowing the enemy team might end up with a few heavies and more 50ton mediums.

A dragon's 60 tons are still inferior to the catapult's 65 tons, and I'd rather have one raven, than one and a half flea.
Some mechs are just useless. They need to be rebalanced and rethought.

but they are going to add weight matching.Which means you can get Atlas+Commando for 125 Tons against Highlander+Jenner or Stalker+Cicada...or not?

The dragon sucks because ballistics sucks. The only real dragon build you can do is the Gauss + 2 LL build that's now in champion mech form. If the AC10 or MGs started to be good then we might see Dragons make a resurgence.

Until we get way more different Mech chassis' available, the weight matching system would be hard to implement. Maybe a combination of the two loosely would fit best with some flexibility. Say match the weight classes and the total weight within 50 tons of each other or so...
This would most likely result in mostly balanced PUG groups...

Tomorrows patch only gives them the ability to tune it without having to patch, lets see what happens Friday 1st (when they turn the class tolerances off altogether) and see what that does to queue times. While weight for weight seems to be preferred, it may very well be impractical to do in a timely manner in cases. The elo re ratings and bug fix may well make it a moot point either way as far as balance
This will be doubly important as everyone jumps in and the gets tired of the new 90 ton shiny (or any new mech for that matter)....
Edit: inb4 2 dozen "class balancing doesn't work" threads because no one bothers to read whats actually going on
Edit2: by your theory atlas needs a buff too as a stalker can eat em for 15 tons less
