So i playd this game for 2 days and iam already fed up with the flamers. Iam used to play Dota 1 and 2 and League of Legends, but this game is nothing compared to both of these combined.
90% of my games people were flamed for several stupid things and i was too. Right iam new to this game and i only have some hours per day to play this, so it will probably take me some time.
But i dont see the need for people to flame on because theyre new and still learning the game. Its not my fault that they die that early in the game and need to watch other peoples mech just to flame them.
If this goes on i will probably drop this game again, and leave it to the small elite who plays this game, i guess you just dont need new players who could invest money into it.
But maybe i should just go flame like mad, its not like anyone cares about it, and if i need to let steam off i just go afk or suicide and then flame others.

Hmmm. For me flaming does happen, like when I try to cap in conquest and am the last one standing, but it is fairly rare. But I play European times. More mature and less competitive.

There is a report function. You can report people at support@mwomercs.com

I hope you just had a bad run, and would ask you to be a bit patient. I know the learning curve is rough, and being insulted on top of that, well ...

Consider joining an outfit and playing with like minded people. But do not be afraid to vet them as well to see whether they would suit you. With respect to the good goons, I have met one or two who are really childish, but at least the insults were innovative. Sorry guys, but there it is. But there are a lot of outfits willing to put in the time and teach newbs. You find any number of recruitment posts in the Outreach section.

Good luck, feel free to pm me any time

Here's a little something for you to remember next time you get flamed by the elite, Elo based matchmaking attempts to match players of equal skill levels, if they're being dropped against brand new players they aren't as elite as THEY think they are.

Also if it gets too nasty, get details, take screen shots if you can then come here and click on the SUPPORT option at the top of the page and send what ever you have to the support people, let them deal with it.

Last bit of advise, it's MechWarrior, don't give up it's worth the effort.

Well i guess its weekend and all, but as you already stated it sucks to learn a game and get flamed on top of it. I can just hope these people will never reproduce in the future. I guess i can trust your word as elite founder and will continue playing this game, escapiley since i loved playing this in my childhood. But theres a great need for a report function, people should get punished for this. Its a game people play it to relief some stress not to get worked up.

Remember this:
Smiling is the best way of baring your teeth at an enemy.
Consider my outfit: Bravo Whiskey Charlie. Very mature people. You can see their website at the-bwc.com. Currently the Brasshats are on leave, and you would have to post an application.
Though I would encourage you to shop for an outfit that suits you.
Good luck.

Sir, not all "players" are such pains to play with and against.

Have patience and (imho best tip of all) maybe go to one of the community-kept TS, get in touch with players directly and have some fresh, hot tips, straight from the battlefields.

Good day and more luck with your next mathches !

Forgot about those. You can go to the No guts no galaxy TS server for instance, and join a group without being in an outfit. Best of both worlds. Check this thread

It's a vicious circle... you get used to being flamed and people being idiots so you lose patience in the end.

Take yesterday, nicely gave a tip to a guy who had his arms locked in an atlas where/how to unlock them because he couldnt hit a light at all, he acts all high an mighty on how we should shut up as we died earlier than him (well, thanks for staying back in an atlas and doing nothing there!). And such things happen time and time again. Eventually it wears you down...

I find such behavior in shooters more than any other type of game.
If you want to play a BT type game but without such behavior, there was a site listed that still has keys for the Closed BETA of MWT.

The worst part about this is, the experience i had was in my first 20 games or so. I know there are the casual bunch of idiots, but if your first experience is something like this it is definatly not healthy.
There could be players who just say **** this game iam out of here. And this should not happen, the worst feeling is that i didnt know the only way to report these people is by sending an email. And they will never recieve any penalty for their actions.

People can't see that you're new. They're just seeing you do things that you'll find in hindsight are terrible.

Either way get on a Teamspeak server. That will be four guys descent guys in your team that know what they're doing and can help you along. Your games will be a bit slower because you are playing with other people, but the quality tends to go up.

Later in the evening is not bad, most of the kids have gone to bed and they're the only ones who really flame. Occasionally you do get the ******* who has been playing forever but they're just mad they're dead and they're going to loose. Try playing later in the evening. Weekends are usually full of punks.

Most of the people I have known or seen usually offer help. Like, stop alpha striking everytime and shutting down. Or, don't stand in the caldera.

The community usually seems pretty helpful in game for people with legitimate questions too so don't be afraid to ask.

In my personal experience, what i found to work best is:

If you are new, or don't know how a system works say so.

******** will be ******** anyway, and the good guys will help you and give tips (at least i do)

If trying a new build, especially one that requires a good deal of support or teamwork, communicate with your team. The role players will be glad to help and turn the match into a real strategic FPS, and the 'callofmechwarrior' guys will leave you alone, which is what you want anyway.

This is specially true when joining random drops running builds like LRM boats which require team support in order to be effective.

Do not be afraid to communicate with your team with team chat, same goes for all chat. A joke exchanged between teams goes a long way into turning another match into a great and memorable match.

Same goes for: don't be afraid to talk back (in a proper way, no need to let a neanderthal that just discovered a computer, drag you down to his level) If someone is being a jerk, make him aware of that. usually someone in your team will back you up, most of the community for this game is awesome. doubly so if you recognize the regulars in PUG groups.

Last but not least: give it some time, be patient. i know it can be hard to deal with flamers constantly, but once you dominate the basic concepts of the game and get comfortable with the mechs and roles you like the most, and hit a certain elo bracket, all those problems go away. It took me a month to get good with a CPLT chassis, and that's without dominating JJ mechanics (Proper JJ use on the C4 is HARD!) and the CPLT is considered one of the 'easier' mechs to get used to.

This reminds me of a song Frank Zappa did - "Why does it hurt when I pee" off the Joe's Garage album.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles.

I know I suck and have a genius of finding the enemy (By blundering into them) I imagine this makes some of the others in my pug groups totally mad. But in my experience I have had only one or two flames. One of which I actually enjoyed as I was the irritating Raven capping and winning by cap with all my team mates dead and the other guys still with 6+ mechs..

(Sorry but I'm not gonna roll over for ya)

Nor should the OP. By and large there is a good crowd here in MWO. If you hit a spate of dingleberries I am sorry and hope you will carry on. Hopefully the sympathy and encouragement shown here in your thread will have shown their IS another side to MWO players - even if you haven't yet been matched along side them yet.

this is my second weekend.. I think i did see a bit more flaming than last weekend, which was almost none. Typically i ignore them.. But i will say something if someone is making fun of someones piloting, after they are dead. The person is not good enough to still be alive but an expert on you..

think of dying early as a learning experiance.. Click through the people on your team.. look at peoples load outs, How they use them, and just how they play. Press tab, to find the person at the top of your team list. (these are people with higher points) higher points typically means they are playing a bit better. So watch these people and see what they do.

In some ways i think i learn more dying in the first two mins, than if i had lastest to the end. (my goal is always last to the end, unless i am sacrificing my life for the team!)

over all i have found the experaince enjoyable, and mostly flame free

Well, you guys proved me that atleast the community is better then these guys ingame, thanks for that.
I playd some more hours, and the flaming did become less. I guess it really was the time when all the idiots were playing at once, and i heard theres a ranking system so there goes that. I probably avoid these times or play less at these hours.
Well back to learning the game then.

Second the thought of "Elites" getting mixed up with a newbie, "are noobs themselves" ?

Playing in a group to learn the ropes will help but (this might turn into a crutch) I would suggest a few weeks lone wolf, learning basic mech piloting, combat and objectives.

It takes a while to get decent in this game. If you pilot a bigger mech stick with the bigger groups and learn.
If you have guts and like being a sneaky pest, light mechs is the way to go.

Another possible TS group you can go to is:
