Already done.

Although,

if such a consideration

as ECM were made,

then it would also

have to take into account

LRMs,

AC/20s,

Gaus Rilfes,

PPCs,

Large Lasers,

etc.

In other words,

all of it is deadly...

It tries to match weight with a margin of error but ELO is far and away what it looks at first. Here's a rough order of operations:
  • ELO and weight matching combined
  • Just ELO
  • Forget it just get people
If it can't make a full team using just the first option it relaxes the weight comparison and works off ELO (keep in mind that ELO is by weight class so there is still some level of weight involved). Finally if it still can't match enough people it just starts grabbing people to prevent the wait time for a game to grow too long.

I was all about to demo my most outlandish match... LOOK AT THIS!
And then I did the math and saw that it was only an 8% weight difference between teams.

But this does show a possible problem which I hope goes away with weight class matching in MMaker phase 4. In my opinion, a single Atlas plus 3 lights does not equal a hunchback, trebuchet, raven and a Cataphract. I like what weight class matching claims to do - deliver the same numbers of light mechs to both teams. Now if they would just make the Dragon a medium mech...
