Otherwise, CW is gonna be interesting if we cant choose maps...

"Entering Orbital path."
"AH HELL, the navigation computer just exploded!!! We're falling into orbit!!"

followed by *CRASH* and us randomly landing on battlefields

More CW baiting for BT fans? Sorry, not biting-- maps selection means **** when PGI has NOT even been tweaking/balancing its 6 maps (+3 variants), like CarbonGames did for Airmech (9 different maps and counting)... Still betting on them getting a campaign mode and/or faction-fighting before MWO

Im not baiting, Im being serious
Unless pointing out that random map selection would be stupid in CW is baiting

Voting would be fairly stupid as well. You should be allowed to choose where to land then the games are made up and matched to those who pick a map. Think about that for a second, one side is all short range mechs, they all are gonna vote for a short range map. Long/sniper, same.

Unless the commander (is that even still planned for this game) for the drop is the one that picks the map, that would be pretty cool and would make a lot more sense

Defending team picks the map. Problem solved.

You don't get to choose anything. Maps are chosen by those in command. When your Commander tells you to fight in River City, you fight in River City....

... Even if you've fought in every other River City in the Galaxy, and for some reason, they all look exactly the same. :D

I said that too lol the commander picking the map would make a hell of a lot more sense than a democratic landing system -.-

Democratic or commander choosing...no difference if it's up to a player.

There needs to be some degree of understanding the probability in the choice of maps but no guaranteed choice.

As you can probably tell, I am not a fan of the "Voting" map system they plan on implementing and hoping it doesn't make it into CW and stays as just part of the basic gameplay.

I would be fine with readied up mechs in the mech bay to allow some choices.

In lore, you'd often spend a little over week in transit from your staging area in a near by system to the actual battle, and planets in BT aren't like Star Wars. You'd most likely be fighting on a world with multiple ecosystems, and the mech you have is the mech you'll be using the whole campaign, so you'd better being one that can preform anywhere.

Gameplay wise, I prefer random maps just to prevent minmaxing to the maps.

Makes no sense considering PGI's original grandiose CW plans were to allow people to actually build a base on a map. Obviously the map wouldn't be random in that case where the people holding a Planet would spend time and money (c-bills) building defenses.

^ Agreed. One of the things I realy hate seeing in a game with a lot of customization is seeing multiple people using a copy of the same thing. I prefer the maps to stay random. So I don't see brawler or sniper only teams.

If they are ready for anything, there should be no complaints. It's the ones that specilize so heavly, that they can only fight on one type of map. It is one of the drawbacks to specializing. If you specialize, you have to deal with being weak in the opposite type.
