Oh, you don't have all the bugs? Do share your special version of the game with the rest of us!

Not all of us have every bug. I mostly get a hud radar bug a few times out of a lot of games, that's it.

Yes everyone wants new mechs and new maps, and I understand that you guys have to make a buck. But you are seriously losing a lot of hard core players because of the stupid bugs. 1 step forward and 2 steps back. After all of this development and after crunch some numbers from several nights of gaming in a 4 man group, about 75% of the time, one of us had some sort of bug whether it be no HUD, no IFF, technicolor, or just the plain old disconnects (that I just experienced after only my second match).

Actually the HUD bug is created by some failure to compile certain scripts due to missing code not being properly overlooked. It was recently stated that they were adding functionality to the battlegrid. Since its premature, they removed it for the patch and failed to spend weeks testing its removal. If they did test that, we'd never get the patch.

New functionality includes: Two to Three lance system. Two Lance Commanders, one Field Commander. Ability for multiple commanders to set specific waypoints, and for teams to be able to see them with direction indicators. Other tweaks. There's also a number of "commander voice" files. "Move to this position." "Attack this position." "Defend this position." "Flank right from this position." The list goes on.

Something tells me that telling them to fix their game is about as redundant as telling a plumber to hurry up with the leaky faucet.

That plumber wants to fix the faucet. Things take time. And PGI wastes money by releasing bugs, as it means it has to pay employees to fix them, thus, they don't want the bugs either.

Patience. I know, forums and patience don't happen. but still.

I love the game, play it every night, but you are really screwing this up. Dont.

I don't give a damn about your intentions OP, seriously, leave, go troll another game, everyone hates you.

Wow... so many wankers. What are you doing trolling these forums? Did you crash as well? As for me, I am still playing the game.

Moridan DOES have a point. I have been playing this game since Aug. of last year (thats closed beta) and know people pretty well that have been involved with the Alpha testing. This game DOES have serious error problems. It might have to do with PGI losing a lot of staff for one (wonder why they are hiring for every position possible...hmmmmm). Have you smart-a$$'s looked at the numbers PGI has lost in accounts lately? The game IS dying and unless PGI get its act together it wont make it to phase 2 CW...If you pay 30+ dollars to play a game you should have a reasonable expectation that its at least near final product stage..Which its not.

There will allways be bugs.
I much as I like lamenting about this game.
They are annoying, but not game killing.
Something will always break period.

The OP obviously has years of experience with creating, programming, testing, an debugging games. We should all listen to him and his vast array of knowledge and awesomesauce...

...wait, how much experience do you have in Game Development again? I just want to be sure.... :D

its not the op's job to develop this game, it is PGI's. the point i see here is that PGI should step up their QA.

I seriously doubt that OP has any idea how hard to find bugs. seriously I got really dizzy when a friend of mine who is a programmer. He showed me a program he designed .. was not more then 20 mb. And it was wall of text and complex. So i would probably get a major headache by looking at cry engine program with over 1 gb with wall of text.

So finding bugs it's like needle in haystack.

well at least that's my impression

Chill guys. Bugs fixing takes time. And if PGI is smart, which I think they are enough of, it is a priority.

Also although a programming team can have a lot of members and programmers, we need to realise that they all got different jobs. And since most are not geniuses will not be able to cross perform. Especially since bug fixing is usually a backend pure coding issue. Which frankly most teams only have a few that really specialised in.

You cannot ask the designer or model coders or web programmers, database programmers, etc, etc to debug..

So yea, even if PGI has a big team, bug fixes might not come out faster. But they don't so yea it will be slow....
Add to the fact that games are HUGE mountains of programming code in text format. Across multiple files, linking to multiple more. That are worked on by multiple people across multiple team. Yea it is easy pie to find the root causes.

We have to wait and see lor with patience. There is a reason why in best practices and most orgs, incidents and problems are separate. I work in IT service operations :D

Yeah, that's a great idea. Lets assign all the modelers, animators, designers, etc, also the texture artists to finding and kill bugs, who cares if they don't know the language, I'm sure they'll pick it up just by looking at the source. Spending 3 months studying the source? Nah, they don't need to do that, that's just paranoia, I'm sure nothing bad will happen if they monkey around with it.

No, this is the dumbest idea that anyone has ever farted out. Next time you have an idea, keep it to yourself.

It's not about the difficulty of finding bugs.

It's about releasing a patch that make the game-play experience significantly worse for the majority of players, not having the common sense to roll that patch back, and losing a lot of players / customers.

That has nothing to do with programming difficulty. It is a bad management choice.

I think it is a choice on their part to focus more on problem fixing and development then incident management. Aka fix the bugs and develop new content is higher priority to them then putting temp fixes on bugs.

Since they are officially in "beta" they can get away with it. Because beta is all about fixing the problem long term and adding more features. Not about fast bug mitigation.

So yea, it sucks that there are bugs, but PGI keeps on telling us it is beta. I know we are paying money, but "officially" it is beta.

I also prefer this way for now, as they will be able to move forward faster (with their team) then they would (with current team) if they spend more time and manpower on stability.

Best would be more improvements and stability, but for that think PGI would need alot more manpower and more skill sets.

OP cries, then calls people with differing opinion "wankers"

This my friends...is why we can't have nice things around here...
