For those of you experiencing abnormal amounts of lag the past couple of days. It's out of PG's hands. A simple tracert shows the connection is find until it gets to the datacenter in Atlanta GA, and a simple google search shows that the Verizon datacenter in Atlanta is giving upwards of 100ms latencies with up to 11% packet loss. So cool your jets, and ride it out.

Honestly,

as a network engineer,

this proves nothing.

However,

you won't be able to

set up an iPerf client

to the MW:O server.

That would be the true test...

So, tracert from multiple hosts shows Atlanta's Datacenter being a source of high latency and packet loss and multiple enterprise network monitoring services show Atlanta's datacenter as being a source of high latency and packet loss.

This was a post about measurable internet characteristics, not your DeVry institute degree.

Ummm...

Ad Hominem...

Nice...

Traceroute only shows

the path a packet takes

on the SENDING route,

not the return route

where your latency

could actually be.

Look up Asymmetric Routing.

Also,

since Traceroute uses

UDP

it is next to worthless

as a diagnostic tool.

This part of the lecture is now complete.

Questions?

By the way,

I get paid to do this for a living

running a world-wide network with

over 16 million customers.

I think I have an idea

what I'm talking about.

:(

Are you ignorant? I've already determined where the latency is. Sending vs Recieving is irrelevant when the standard by which it is measured, according to this post, is wether or not it affects gameplay. And clearly you are not aware that this game communicates over UDP making tracert a viable determination of network latency.

Well, that's good to know. So, are we burning down the verizon data center, or what?

Well, that'd be the logical response right?

You aren't supposed

to do anything.

I just offered

the information.

What you do with it

is your own concern.
