Duble Optimal Range For Small Laser

Hello Devs

In the current game state where even machine guns are going to be given range increase I think it'd be reasonable to extend optimal range for small laser up to 180m.There are few reason for that:
1.Most close range fights are played ~150m.
2.Small lasers are designed mostly for lights;these mechs are not such a great threat as before intorducing HSR,so now it'd be nice if they could attack at moderate close range.
3.180m is still close range,but at least no one is forced to practically give a hug to an enemy.
4.Larger lasers will still have clear advantage of damage and range.

Just wait for the ER Small lasers, the current ones seem fine. In the meantime keep in mind the following differences between the small laser and its more widely used counterpart the medium laser.

Small Medium
0.5T 1.0T
0.67HPS 1.00HPS
1.0DPS 1.25DPS
90M  270M


So for half the weight you're getting a weapon that deals only 1/5th less damage, at a whopping 1/3rd less heat. Sure it goes down to 1/3rd the range, but considering the purpose of the weapon its really not at all bad.

now just think if it were "exactly balanced" as the half ton it is, it would be 0.63 DPS, 0.5 HPS and 135 meters. You wouldn't gain that much in extra range but lose a significant amount of damage. It seems better as is.

On more serious note: an increased range to say 120m (240m max) wouldn't hurt.

yeah they should increase range to lets say 120m to reflect that small laser have bigger range than small pulse

In table top the IS small laser has the exact same range as small pulse laser.

As much as I'd enjoy the SL getting a bit of a range buff (I love it on several of my builds, and would likely use it on even more if the range weren't so small), it'd go from decent to ragingly OP.

Slunchbacks would return in numbers (I'm using one now and it's already pretty strong; giving me more range would just be wrong). Jenners would become even stronger than they are already (my JR7-D uses four of them, but if the range got boosted my F might switch over entirely, making room for plenty of JJs and making it vastly more heat efficient). The SL Awesome might well come back as well.

At least the erSL will have heat penalties for adding so much range. I'm rather looking forward to getting my hands on some of those.
