Ok, I understand that weapons have slash damage, especially missiles. However, no less than three times now, I've dies from damage to my armored back-plate also damaging my unarmored front. It's upsetting. If my front center torso armor is gone, I'll give my back to absorb some more hits. When I still die from my internals going away, yet I have armor on all my back plates, it seems like the splash damage isn't working as intended.

Anyone else have similar problems?

Yes, but is it a bug, or unintended splash range, or too large a hitbox? What is causing it?

It's a bug that was fixed and then came back again.

It isn't a bug. Mechs aren't two dimensional abstracts. As such, you have a top, bottom, and four sides. When the designers put the models together, some of the mech pieces had to be set at front or back. A good example of this is when your mech has an antenna on top of your mech. Depending on the artistic licensing and where that part was "painted" on the mech, it may end up causing havoc with damage allocation. For other mechs, you have a major issue with the body being overly horizontal (ie, being longer front to back then it is top to bottom or side to side).

A good example of this is the Cicada. It has a great deal of surface area on top of the mech due to it being squat and very long front to back. On top of that, it has a killer communications relay on top. SO, when I get hit with LRMs that are coming in from behind me, I should take all of the damage to the rear. BUT, depending on where the missiles land, or even a laser shot, it might hit the relay or another part of the paint which is considered the front portion of the mech. I've been killed by an LRM10 to the back of my Awesome when I had full armor but it hit a spot that was considered the front of my mech and went to my CT which was extremely red with no exterior armor.

It sucks but it is the problem when we played a 2d game that got turned into a 3d version.

But I've bee running in in Trebuchets then this has been happening. Pretty sure they aren't all that horizontal.

Ive killed an atlas in the rear by hitting his front ct that is showing between his legs. Every mech has parts of their ct exposed in the back, even if just a little. Figure out where those are and no one with a broken ct will ever be able to escape you
