The regular variants are better then the Heavy Metal I wasted my MC on. ;) They tricked us into spending $$ before the regulars came out. You wont see many pink mechs out there anymore.
For purchasing the Heavy Metal we got
Hvy Metal
Engine 330
JJ 5
Speakers Yes
Fancy paint job Yes

Regular var.
Engine 325
JJ 2 or 3
Speakers No
Fancy paint job No

Not much, if any advantage for a HERO Mech. 30% cbill boost.

Oh well. Lesson learned.

If you would have spoken to just about 70% of any players they could have told you HM would be a scam.

Except the HM also has its energy hardpoints in the arm, which is a huge advantage when facing fast-moving mechs.

HM gets higher jump range and main harpoints in the arms. For that and the c-bill boost I still consider my HM a good investment. Your really paying the MC premium for the C-Bill boost, otherwise it would be P2W.

Quirks are set up the wrong way on the 732 and the 733P.

The +10% torso rate should be removed from the 732 as it is the primary poptart variant and a minor bonus should be added to the 733P.

cant do anything more then existing designs can but JJ.

- compare weapon slots to atl
- compare speed to atl
- 2B in the same arm cant fit 2 gauss/2ac20 as the atl cant
- missile slots, but only 26 tubes, even if you go from 2M to 4M.
- another 4PPC jump sniper, hurray. we needed that.

without any new ideas or inspirations. disapointed.

found a good build for the 733p

4 ppc, 3 streak srm2, 2 tons of ammo, 18dhs

that works pretty well.

anyone got a good config for the 733c ?

i tried 2 erppc + gaus + srm2, but so far i have no luck with this variant.

bye,

The Gauss+3PPC outshines 4PPC quite much.

Something feels off with the CT internal hit points on the 733C. It seems like any shot is capable of instantly destroying me once my CT Armor is gone (even if my internals are untouched). There should be almost 60 points of internal health in there, so only a 6-PPC stalker should be capable of delivering a killing blow like that.

It seems to me that a single shot from an AC/20 kills me instantly if there's no CT armor. Has anyone else noticed this?

Apart from that, the Highlander's arms are pretty skinny and not useful for deflecting damage away from the torso. It'd be nice if they got a little bit beefier - the only reason I even lose an arm is because the adjacent torso section is destroyed (on all my other mechs I typically lose the arm before the torso).

this mech is pretty sweet. I can lander on stalkers heads real easy, thus we become the mega mech known as the Stalklander.

Things are looking good.

Remove their jump jets. Too many poptarts now. I actually want to play a game, instead of being sniped from behind buildings. Its bad enough when you get a few CTF 3Ds doing it, now you got everyone and their mother playing Highlanders, poptarting, sniping, and keeping in cover. If I wanted to play like this, I'd still be playing MW4.

Related to this, but remember while mine was done for testing to report a bug (and I got both thanked for turning it in but warned to not do it again). Presented here for comedy. But don't go abusing this in a fight.

Personally my favorite for the comical value is a spider riding a slow K2. It's like riding a horse into battle. Or a Raven 4x on the shoulder of an Atlas, it's like being a parrot.

One issue with the Highlander is the damage tolerance in the legs. They are supposed to be reinforced for multiple DFA's (which don't work currently - I tried it in the testing grounds and ended up standing on a Centurion's head) but still seem to work on the standard drop damage profile. Otherwise, it seems to be a good mech all told.

A highlander with no jumpjets? Blasphemy!

I'm quite worried about Highlanders, as soon as LRMs will be back into a state of usefulness, this thing will be able to boat 20+10+10+10 tubes (HGN 733).

I'm speaking everywhere I can that to limit LRM and SRM boating you should be forced not to place a LRM 20 launcher if your hardpoint has only 15 tubes and the same for SRMs (Cent A has 10 tubes, you shouldn't be able to use 3xSRM6 there) and to soften the hassle SRM+LRMs would still be possible. The Cent A could mount a LRM10+SRM6+SRM4 (10 tubes for LRMs, sharing the same 10 tubes for the SRMs).

But no, the highlander's "tube modularity" is quite Alarming.

Besides this, they fit in the current meta (albeit with tuesday's patch, I seem no longer to be able to hit anything with PPCs and GRs, it's like I suddendly became unable to aim); the main drawback it's the CT size that is humongous, I often see many going straight to XL engines.

At least the head hitbox is fixed from the launch time and it's fair.

Highlander have the ballistic in the (small) right hand and compared to the atlas small side torsos very good combo,
with 325 STD. Engine 64 KPH very fast for a assault.

The big weakness is only Lasers in side torso, with a slow tors twist very hard to hit side torsos or legs of scouts...

@royalewitcheese

Destroy the right torso and they loose lasers+ballisitc, but destroy jumpers at this way at distance or close range is very hard,
and frustrated for new players....
