It's not gravity. You lose the same speed no matter what map you are on. At least that's what happens to me.
The speed reduction is around 0.3-0.5kph on the mechs I've tested.

We did not nerf anything. Something has gone sideways causing this change. We're investigating it and will fix ASAP. This is a bug, nothing intentional or tuning based.

Thank you for the prompt response Paul, it is appreciated. I'm glad to hear it's just a bug.

I initially thought that the decimal portion of the speed tweak was being subtracted as the math on my Cent-9a showed that but after further investigation this is not the case. My DRG-1C which has a 360xl in it giving a base of 97.2 kph pre patch with speed tweak that would net a 106.9 kph. At current it has a max speed of 97.3 kph with speed tweak so something bigger than a simple easy to fix math error is going on here. Hopefully PGI can figure out what the issue is and get it fixed soon.

Many of the lower numbers seem to be explained by Speed Tweak possibly giving 9.25% instead of 10%

But there are some people that have reported changes that do not fit with the majority of the reports.

Like these

That last one really throws off my theory. No idea why speed would change without speed tweak.

The latter one is common to non-speed tweaked mechs I think.

The other reports needs numbers and engine reports for clarity.

TBH, this whole issue may be related to the implementation of MASC... or the very beginnings of it.

Thanks for that!

Also, Speed Tweak is just flat out missing in Testing Grounds. Mechs go their normal speeds.

Probably repeating what we already know:

Mechs w/o speed tweak are going faster than before the patch. (0.1 and 0.2kph faster here)

Mechs w/ speed tweak are going noticeably slower. (this seems more variable for me, different mechs affected by marginally different %)

It being a bug is ok, Even if it had been intentional, as long as the community was informed in advance of the change, that would be fine, as less then 1% isn't really going to effect anyone massively, and it was across the board. I post very rarely but I would like to end this post by saying "Thanks" to the Devs for their work and, good or bad, keep working on it. I'm looking forward to CW.

Well , as far as light mechs go...these new changes definitely screwed us over. Gotta love getting 1 shot by a mech with 2 ppc's walking by it in a spider. Slower mechs + faster weapons. I defnitely wont be playing my light mechs nearly as much...if at all now. But in reality it doesn't matter that much though, cuz the server lag is so horrible it doesn't matter if ur going 100 kph or 150...your still gonna rubberband everywhere, and get ***** not even knowing whats going on....with a 40 ms ping heh

Speed tweak shows in the mechlab right ?

Cant tell if I lost any speed to this bug, as it still goes 76.1km/h compared to the mechlab stating 69.

I think I lost a whole 7kph with my Elite Jenner. Going from 137 to 129 kinda sucks. Ballistics hurt now :P

The 14.5 kph I reported was a mistype, should have read 4.5 kph.

I was wondering why the speed and handling on my relatively nimble stalker suddenly had a drunken tortoise feel to it. But speaking of Awesomes, my 9M w/ a 350 seems quite a bit faster now actually. Probably just a mind-trick from running Highlanders so much in the last week, but it really does feel more like a hot-rod Dragon than a hot-rod Awesome.

And by the way, community, y'all need to put down the testosterone syringes and step away from the flamethrowers. This project is, after all, still in BETA ffs. Bugs happen. If any'yall think you can code it better, then by all means break out yer leet bug-free source and make a hotfix, or stifle it about how bad the devs are doing. I've said it before and I'll say it again now, I'd rather play a buggy MWO than a pristine Planetside 2, Battlefield 3 or a Call O' Duty release, It's not like ya'll had to pay for a licence or are paying a monthy sub, so chill the smeg out.

Bump, so this doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Any news on this?

Mr. Niko Snow, if you are reading this can you add this to known issues?

Thanks!

Interesting. Everyone was having this bug with Speed Tweak, but my 350XL Dragon is still 1 kph slower WITHOUT tweak. So is it confirmed that non-tweak was nerfed?
