I'm looking at my Battletech Third Edition rule book, and the rules for mech design are featured prominently.
Back in the days of tabletop (or dormroom floor) Battletech, I didn't know anyone that ever used a stock design. We took the published designs as starting points. They all had some bothersome quirk that was well worthwhile to fix.

What good is a community game, if you have no community?

One person does not a community make.

Just played 10 matches, didn't see a single jump sniper, running great.

Sooo....

YMMV I guess

I just played for a hour and a half and most of my games were filled with PPC boats, one game the enemy team had 7 HGN all poptart varients. Wish I could have your luck, I am done playing for the night hopefully I can have better luck another day.

"A turn for the worse."

Is it possible to make a turn at all while free-falling off a cliff without a parachute?

While I appreciate the analogy...

You're looking for realism in a universe where legs are preferred over the wheel or tracks for tanks?

legs are better for rough terain a little bit of shakking would help

Well, its a shame to see you go. I'm sure you'll be missed!

Haha, very funny. :)

If at all the pause will be temporary. "The problem" is that I'm still reading the books. I have started just a few years ago and with interuptions by other novels (reading fantasy, too). So this sets the mood and I like to play the game I read about in the books.

I guess that's part of my problem though. :D

The novels paint a very idealized picture of battletech. This is your problem.

The TT game itself always was extremely competitive. It was a game for the hardest trying of all tryhards.

A game where a setup with Arrow IV carriers + scouts was considered a fine and viable tactic.

The problem with attempting to ever make any argument over poptarting is that half the people who play this game have rock bottom ELO because they're terrible at it, and simply don't ever see any poptarts as a result, and therefore, see nothing wrong with it because the ones they do see in their bracket are *******.

Am I making fun of them? Hell no, I wish I was them, then I could have regular matches instead of something out of Mechwarrior 4 multiplayer.

Jeeze, it's like when I brought up poptart nerfs on NGNG and Phil and the other guy made fun of me, only for Garth to ring up their ELO's (low in everything except mediums, in which they were one point higher than Garth, according to Garth.) and pretty much explain to them the same thing I did, how it's just such a fun killer in higher ELO matches.

It's ever worse in comp matches, 4PPC stalkers with an entire poptart lance, there's zero variation.

Between this and the whole NO CLANS UNTIL LATE 2014, I'm pretty much done with MWO.

The difference is that besides of finding a good tactic against a setup like this in TT, you could also simply have...luck with the dice. But we don't roll dice in MWO last time I checked. So the balance can't be done like in TT.

I hate luck.

I prefer engagements to be decided by skill, so I quite like that part of MWO.
What I do not like about MWO is that one type of build always seems to be dominating the Meta.
I hated it when everyone was running a brawler, and I hate it when everyone runs snipers.

I hate saying this but I loved the community about 2 months ago. Right now, after dealing with a bunch of kids saying ****, ****** and so on... I pretty much feel that the good of the game getting too much press and being decent now attracts morons. CAN WE GET A report feature or a way to block or mute a player? Right now there is no penalty for Team shooting so sometimes we have idiots shooting each other. Sadly this is the down side to getting better. I know the builds are a issue but I find the people that play to be more of one at this point. I know they are 13 year old kids or something but it needs to be controlled or this game will lose adult players fast.

Went for about 15ish matches, came accross only one match where the other team was clearly poptartin'. Basically what our team did once we noticed they weren't going anywhere we moved as a team from cover to cover to focus fire each down as we closed. Could have gone sour for us if the enemy team worked together with their poptartin'.

OP, when a new mech is introduced everyone rushes to use it, it then proceeds to die down. Which will happen with this.

You are lucky then, I saw lots of jump-sniping poptarts... every... ******* ... match.

Have to admit, it's a nasty tactic for PuG's to try and counter correctly before it's too late.

Jeez if I would be one of the devs i would just stop to look into this forum ever agian and just do my thing.

All a bunch of QQing puppies all the time. By the forum we now have like 15 OP builds. Some game devs would be happy about that! 15 builds that are viable! Jeez! Kill the game immediately!

I totally understand why the devs don't look into the forums anymore. It's just discouraging.
