Any info been released about what happens when we die? Will there be some type of damage log or video playback.

If I all of a sudden go poof, I want to know that its becuase I just got 2 ac20 shots to the back etc.

When you die the screen goes black and a little man, hmm and a rather recognizable one may I say, dressed in a fluffy suit wielding a sturdy teddy-bear in one hand and a lollipop in the other appears, asking if you have been a nice boy. If you say yes and the answer is accepted he will start dancing his well known boogie-woogie moves from the 70's and hands you his lollipop, and with a firm facial expression he tells you to "DO NOT LICK IT before you enter the purple room to the left". However if the answer is wrong, oh dear you are not going to like that, cause he will take out his lollipop, lick hard on it and, well I can't go further into it cause its a rather sticky affair, specially the part where he intentionally starts hugging the teddy's head ...

Agreed.

I'd also add that when a 'Mech/Pilot dies that player should not have a view of the battlefield. Dead means out of play until you're back in play, not scouting for your friends.

Hopefully when you have been defeated you get booted. Definately make 'scouting' that much more important.

Having a playback of the battle would be good for learning and i would support it.

Hmm.. Nice topic.. I'd actually like to see a Playback feature in MWO. If anything it'd be nice to watch the battle from different angles as well as seeing who/what killed you or who/what you killed. But I agree that we shouldn't be able to do this until "After" the battle has concluded. Also keep in mind folks, booting someone during a match after defeat would only be plausible during certain match types as the 'Devs have already said one of the other match types allows you to "Drop In" in one of the other mechs loaded into your dropship (Assuming you have a second , third etc. 'mech)

I was thinking something like this, or maybe a third person view with locked camera so you can't look around corners for your teammates. It just seems kind of lame to be in the middle of an intense match, then you die and you'll never know what happened besides whether you won or lost.

Yeah, I'd prefer to watch the rest of the match. Preferably with the ability to just ride shotgun with your teammates.

I would like to watch the rest of the battle unfold and then see the play back to know what killed me. Just have no comm with your team untill combat is over.

well, teamspeak and other 3rd party software would work around that limitation, which will almost certainly be used, especially in important matches.

being 3rd person, that would still allow you to see over the hill in front on your teammate and relay info from that angle. The only way to do this as I see it is so you see 1st person view from a teammate just as they're seeing to fight in.

I dnt think you should be able to see anything, just because you can only see what they (team mate) see doesn't mean they won't miss something you see.. an outline shadow etc...anything to give someone on the other team away...you want to see the match unfold????? be the "LAST" mech standing.

Should just fade to black and you are back in main area of the game.
A nice replay after the match ends would be great as well.

It would be kind of cool to be able to watch from where you were downed...but delay the feed if you will (kind of like a replay, only delayed X seconds from live play). LoL does this with their spectators so you still get to see the full game that would be played to learn from (without having to wait for the whole thing to end to be able to then watch was then happened), but you don't have the option to hook up with Vent or TS to cheat the live game at hand.

I agree - that way you can see how the battle unfolds but can't influence it.

What if you eject? I mean, if you eject and they don't kill you on the way down what's stopping you from viewing the battle field? I know they said they won't be doing anything outside of mech combat, but there's a gap there. Will we not be able to eject at all?
