I'm going to build a new PC and I wanted to know if anyone here is using the AMD Phenom II CPU and how MWO runs?
It will also have an nVidia GTX 690 Superclocked that is in my current build.
The overall plan would be:
AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition
2x 4GB SDRam DDR3 1600
nVidia GTX 690 Superclocked (already own)
Win 7 Home Premium (already own)
I'm really interested in hearing form anyone who has a similar build. I've always been an Intel user, but the price for a system like this would be sweet IF it would work well. Actually, I want to build two and have one for myself and one for my son...so a couple of nice budget-minded builds would make me happy.
Thanks.

Running a phenom II x4 840, 8g ddr3 and a gtx560 ref w/3 gigs of ram.
constant 15 frames @ 1920x1080 (on a fullHD 42" TV), 20 if I go medium, 30 if I go low.
Client almost never crashes, the system itself hasnt crashed or been shut down (except updates) since 1 Feb 2012.
Yours is "the same thing just better ", so unless the engine hates soma partigular about your system, it should be dandy.

You spent enough to buy a 690 GPU , and paired it with a Phenom II x4 965 instead of somthing liek a 3770k ....why ?
If its for price, then why not go down to a 680 gpu. That PII x4 964 is going to bottleneck like crazy in CPU intensive games.
If i were u, go down on the GPU, get a 680 or 7970, spend the savedm oney on a much better CPU (3770k), CPU cooler (NH-D14 oir a good AIO water cooler) and Motherboard (Asus or Gigabyte Z77 board) and then OC.

My friend has a 955be and a 6870 hes around 40-50 fps max settings. My brothers new system im building for him is going to use the 965 and a 7850. From what I've found out he shoukd have around 50-60fps. My friends processor I dont think has ever maxed out and he can keep an eye on it cause he runs a second screen just for system information and coms program.

mine is
AMD Phenom II X6 Black 1090T
8gb ddr3
radeon 5870 (not sure if this is still a decent card? was like 350 new!)
samsung extreme 240gb SSD
a bunch of other 7200rpm drivers (for video editing)
I hit and sustain 60fps at all times, drops to and sustains 30fps when I engage fraps.

Your 690 will suffer until they implement SLI.

A Phenom II X4 will run this game fine.
I'm running my 955 with a 7970GHz but will upgrade the CPU in the near future (probably next month) to a Xeon E3-1230v2 (i7 power for the price of an i5) and an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 Mainboard. Will be my first Intel CPU since 2001.
